NamoBuddhaya.
Good morning distinguished guests.

On behalf of Asia-Pacific Associaton for Gynecologic Endoscopy and Minimal Invasive Therapy
(APAGE), it is a true pleasure for me to welcome you all to the 1 st SINGHEALTH DUKE-NUS
GYNAECOLOGICAL SURGERY SUMMIT IN CONJUNCTION WITH 8 th APAGE
REGIONAL CONGRESS. Welcome to Singapore… Of course, this city belongs to all of us and
needs no introduction. You are here to enjoy a fabulous scientific program, and hopefully some
personal renewal time away from your busy practices and clinical obligations.
Ladies and Gentlemen..
In the 8th APAGE Regional Congress, under the theme “Controversies in Minimally Invasive
Surgery” reflects the passion and interests of the organizing committee that strongly believes and
wishes for the advancement of laparoscopic and endoscopic surgical techniques into the future.
The scientific program will cover the advances on gynecologic laparoscopic surgery in
reproduction, oncology, urologynecology as well as hysteroscopy and highlight future. are
excited to not only introduce the latest technology but also promote the adoption of new
advanced techniques in all fields of Minimally Invasive Surgery.
However, progress requires reflection of lessons from the past to help steer ourselves and the
next generation to further develop the field of minimally invasive surgery. This program focuses
on the elements which are science, research, innovation and the transfer of expertise. These
values are key to developing Minimal Invasive Surgery well into the next decade.
We are fortunate to have with us, experts from all over the world to share their experience and
perspectives on these topics and we hope to create an opportunity for our participants to have
ample opportunity for the exchange of ideas and criticism to help further advance Minimally
Invasive Surgery. This meeting we also have made certain that our allied health professionals are
not forgotten by arranging dedicated sessions just for them as they are integral to any successful
Minimally Invasive Surgery team.
Surgical options available to our patients have increased and the technology surrounding
gynecologic surgery continues to rapidly evolve, staying up-to-date with the latest developments
has become more challenging than ever.Techniques where function and beauty are becoming
addressed together and not separately. It is the time when minimal complication rates and
maximum patient satisfaction can be achieved
APAGE is an association, which dedicated to promote gynaecological endoscopy and minimally

invasive therapy. There re International meetings and events such as annual congress, regional
meeting and workshop as platforms for academic exchanges and highlight the latest
advancement in gynecologic minimally invasive therapy field. We have gathered a number of
inspiring topics and expertise since our establishement and offered opportunities for
gynaecologist who desired to enhance their surgical skills and knowledge.
The feedback we received from participants in the past have always been very encouraging. It
will be a great opportunity to exchange advanced knowledge and level up the academic standard
among members experts. We have also prepared a strong educational progam on the advanced
tehcniques in Gynecology Endoscopy located at the training centers in Asia.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation on the organizing
committee for their hardwork and effort to make the congress successful . Thank you to
Dr.BernardChern FRCOG as the Chairman, SingHealth OB/GYN Academic Clinical that has
given us the opportunity to gather at this conference, and also has chosen a topic that strongly
supports the development of Gynecological Endoscopy science which later can be added to our
insights and finally can be applied in each of every center.
Thank you to all organizing commitees for holding a very interesting summit and collaborating
with Singhealth Duke-NUS and APAGE Regional Congress so that we can gather along in this
beautiful morning. We hope this event will open our horizons regarding the development of the
science of endoscopic gynecology, especially on the topic of Minimal Invasive Surgery
And also Thankyou for having me to such a grand event like this. I believe that the congress will
be an excellent opportunity for both scientific and cultural exchange, and wish all the
participants a rewarding experience from this event and joyful memory of Singapore. With
everyone effort and support it can be seen that there’s brilliant future of the endoscopic and
minimally invasive therapy field in Asia-Pacific region.
And so must we, ladies and gentlemen. We need to look at this old issue in a new way. Not simply
for today but to make our tomorrows more rewarding, more fulfilling, more compelling because
of the changes we make today. With your help we can think anew, and act anew on the new
issues before us today."
We hope this two day programme will be memorable and beneficial to all our honoured
participants who have made this event a success. May the exposure you receive here set you well
on your path for a greater tomorrow.
