_______Daily Lesson Reflection
This lesson went very well and the students seemed very engaged. I think the introduction
using the mystery bags helped to get them excited and put meaning and purpose to future
activity. I also think this is an experience we can reference in the future as we work on
summarizing. The group work went well and I roamed the room working to get them back
on task as groups began chatting about non-related material. They were able to come up
with good main ideas in their small groups over their section of the readings but struggled
with identifying a summary of the whole reading by putting each group’s part and sharing
together. When prompted to take it a step farther than the main idea of the book was
“whale sharks” students were able to put together the groups’ main ideas to form an
overall main idea. During the writing, students had a lot of fun sharing and summarizing
stories, we worked until it was time to go to lunch.
