The theme of this textbook is inspired by the unique culture of Malaysia. It


combines colourful and vibrant photographs to illustrate our unity in diversity. All
of the photographs are captured locally to provide authenticity. The prominent
blue colour, which is the colour in the Malaysian flag that symbolises unity among
Malaysians, is also used to promote serenity and tranquility. High-definition
photographs are used to evoke interest and inspire the learning of listening,
speaking, reading and writing. In addition, 21st century skills are represented
by the vector image with a technological theme. All in all, the superimposed 2D
computer illustrations and real-life photographs portrayed on the cover is designed
to enhance the true spirit of Malaysia.
Teo Hwee Bien has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English from
University of London and a Masters of Education in Teaching
English as a Second Language. She is the Departmental Head of
Languages in a secondary school in Johor and has 30 years of
teaching experience. She has also written textbooks for primary
and secondary level as well as numerous academic books.

Tan Bee Lian is a retired English teacher with more than 30


years of teaching experience. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in
History and Diploma in Education. She was the Departmental
Head of Social Studies and Departmental Head of Languages. She
is involved in writing and editing academic books for primary and
secondary level.

Rani A/P Parasuraman has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from


Universiti Malaya, Masters of Education in Management and
English from University of Bristol/Institut Aminuddin Baki and a
Diploma in Education in Teaching English as a Second Language
(TESL). At present, she is the Departmental Head of Languages in
a secondary school in Selangor. She has more than 30 years of
teaching experience and has written textbooks and workbooks
for secondary schools.

Azriq Aiman bin Azman is teaching English in a secondary


school in Kuantan, Pahang. He has a Bachelor of Education in
TESOL from a twinning programme between IPGM Kampus
Bahasa-Bahasa Antarabangsa and Macquarie University, Australia.
He is actively involved in writing academic and literature
workbooks in English since 2015.
