The school bell rings at the end of the day. Children run out
the door and down the stairs.
TEACHER
(sarcastic voice)
Hurry up, Chloe! I have places to
be...
CHLOE
(shy tone)
Sorry, I'm... I'm almost done!
She walks out of the school, looks around, and checks her
transit app as she waits for her cab to take her home. The
cab pulls up. She struggles to get her and her things into
the car, but succeeds and enters the cab.
Chloe exits the car. She climbs up the stairs holding her two
sweatshirts, one jacket, purse, backpack, and hand clutch,
dropping things on her way, picking them up as she goes.
When she gets to the front door, she throws her things on the
floor and walks to different rooms around the house.
She drops her backpack on the floor and throws her jacket,
sweatshirt, and sweater on the chair in front of her.
She walks into the living room, putting her purse on the
couch as well as her clutch. She approaches her cat while he
is eating and gives him his evening scratches. He smiles. She
leaves him to eat.
She walks back into the kitchen and pushes the things off a
chair to sit and look for her homework, from within her
backpack. As she looks, she pulls random things out of her
bag. At first, she pulls out papers, then the objects get
more absurd - including a piano, her cat, best friend Alana,
and other things. She realizes her homework is not in her
backpack, it's in her room and she begins to go there.
She stands there in the doorway with her hands on her hips
and a disapproving look on her face as she sees in front of
her the messy bedroom that she now has to go through to find
her homework.
She walks into her room to try to find her homework, but
there is so much stuff everywhere that her feet never even
touch the floor. She looks everywhere but never finds her
homework.
She asks all of her teachers for a new copy of something. She
asks her Culinary teacher for a new recipe, her English
teacher for a new syllabus, her Spanish teacher for a new
packet and her Math teacher for a new copy of the classwork.
At the end of the day she finds her homework in her first
class, her Film teacher found her homework the day before…
after she searched EVERYWHERE for it.
