process. At a macro level, he has worked on the innovation strategies and published many journals
in the US and Europe. His book co-authored with Martin Neil Baily “Innovation and Productivity
Crisis” was published by Brookings Institution and favorably reviewed by the New York Times, the
Wall Street Journal, Science, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. He serves on
the editorial boards of several journals in Europe and the USA.

Dr. Mukhopadhyay is former Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at the West Bengal
University of Technology affiliated Engineering Colleges(2001-2008). He was a Visiting
Professor in the Division of Electronics & Information Engineering at Chonbuk National University
in the Republic of Korea (2006-2007). He had also taught at Stevens Institute of Technology, New
Jersey (1982-1984) and at Bengal Engineering College affiliated to Calcutta University, West
Bengal (1980-1981). He had earlier worked in IT industry for 16 years. During 1982-1994 and in
1999, he was in the USA. He had worked at Bell Communications Research, New Jersey, USA in
its Computing Systems and Architecture Lab. Dr. Mukhopadhyay also held the positions of
President & CEO of Data-Core (India) Limited of Kuljian Corporation (USA) & DCPL (India),
Technical Director of M.N. Dastur & Co Ltd, Director of SriSoft Corporation (Los Angeles), Dy GM
of TIL Limited, and Senior Consultant of Tata Consultancy Services. He has authored over 45
technical publications in international refereed journals and conferences. He has been serving
on several Program Committees of International Conferences across the world and is on the
Editorial Board of International Journal of Intelligent Information and Database Systems. He is
cited in the Who's Who in the World. He has traveled extensively in many parts of the world for
education, consulting and delivering talks.

Professor of Economics, Banking and Financial Management & Corporate Governance
Prof. Das joined State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer in 1970 and over the years he
reached the position of Chief General Manager in the Bank. During his long career as a banker
Prof. Das had wide exposure to the world of Money, Banking and Finance, apart from a long
innings in retail banking, Prof. Das has long and varied experience in Corporate Finance, Foreign
Exchange and International Banking and in General Management. For over four years Prof. Das
was also posted in the Singapore Office of State Bank of India and extensively visited the Gulf
countries while he was looking after NRI business of the Bank. For three years he was posted as a
Faculty in State Bank of India 's prestigious Staff College at Hyderabad . He was invited to
National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM) at Pune on several occasions to speak on various
topics relating to banking. Prof. Das also had a stint in Investment Banking while he was posted
as Executive Vice President at SBI Capital Markets Ltd, Mumbai. As Executive Director of
Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Prof. Das looked after the Division of Issues and
Listings, Mutual Funds, Venture Funds, Foreign Institutional Investors(FIIs) and Corporate
Restructuring. He represented SEBI as a Member of the National Committee on Accounting
Standards. During his tenure at SEBI he also attended international conferences on finance and
securities market at Mauritius , Sri Lanka and the UK. He is also Visiting Faculty at Goa Institute
of Management.

Student Activities
A long with strong academic systems, Calcutta Business School puts strong emphasis on personality
development. Students should nurture the habit of having enough energy and the drive to deliver. They
must be able to operate in adverse environments. In the present highly competitive corporate world, students
require a different mind-set and high level of energy with compatible soft skills. This will be done through the
activities of different Students' Activities Cells. These Cells are:

Management Development Programm
and Other Institutional Activities
The Management Development Centre, under construction, with a floor space of 38,000 sq.ft. and a high-
end building, 60 air-conditioned single rooms, modern lecture galleries, IT infrastructure and networking
facilities, will be used for conducting Executive Development Programmes, In-company Training
Programmes, Workshops and Seminars.
1-year Executive Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (EPGDM) programme will be introduced for
candidates having more than two years industry experience after graduation, by 2010.
Fellowship Programme in Management, equivalent to Ph. D, will also be introduced in three to four
years.
Strong emphasis will be given on research, publication of papers in leading international and national
journals, presentation of papers in international and national Conferences/ Seminars/ Workshops. The
intellectual capital of the Faculty is at a very high level.
The institute will provide consultancy to different types of industries in a wide range of areas covering all
facets of management. The Faculty has long and varied experience in providing consultancy to different
types of organizations.
Besides various functional departments, there will be a large number of Centres mainly concentrating on
specific focused areas, many of which are inter-disciplinary in nature. Some of the Centres are:
These centres will promote research, publication, conducting Executive Development Programmes,
conducting tailor-made In-company Training Programmes and providing Consultancy in respective
areas.
Linkages with some leading foreign Management Schools are also being explored.
