The document provides an overview of music notation for treble and bass clef. It explains that the staff consists of five lines and four spaces that each represent a different musical note read from bottom to top. It then describes the treble clef as notating higher pitched instruments and using the "Every Good Boy Does Fine" mnemonic for line notes and "F A C E" for space notes. The bass clef is described as notating lower pitched instruments and using the mnemonic "Grizzly Bears Don't Fly Airplanes" for line notes and "All Cows Eat Grass" for space notes.

The Staff
The staff consists of five lines and four spaces. Each of those lines and each of those
spaces represents a different letter, which in turn represents a note.

We read
notes from
bottom to the
top!

Treble Clef (High Pitch)

The treble clef notates the higher registers of music, so if your

instrument has a higher pitch, such as a flute, violin or saxophone,
your sheet music is written in the treble clef. Higher notes on a
keyboard also are notated on the treble clef.

When you see this symbol… Remember

silly sentence:

Line notes: Every Good Boy Does Fine

Space Notes: F A C E 
Bass Clef (Low Pitch)

The bass clef notates the lower registers of music, so if your

instrument has a lower pitch, such as a bassoon, tuba or cello,
your sheet music is written in the bass clef.

When you see this symbol… Remember silly

sentences:

Line notes: Grizzly Bears Don’t Fly Airplanes

Space Notes: All Cows Eat Grass
