Tutorial 7 Fixed Beam and Consistent Deformation Metho

This document contains examples and theory questions related to analyzing fixed beams and using the consistent deformation method. It discusses advantages and disadvantages of fixed beams, calculating fixed end moments for beams with point loads or sinking supports, and deriving expressions for fixed end moments. Examples include calculating fixed end moments and drawing shear force and bending moment diagrams for beams with uniform distributed loads and point loads. Other examples demonstrate using the consistent deformation method to determine support reactions and draw diagrams for propped and cantilever beams.

Theory Questions
Q= Enlist advantages and disadvantages of fixed beam.
1
Q= Find out fixed end moment for a fixed beam carrying point load at the
2 center of the span.
Q= Calculate fixed end moments if left support of fixed beam is rotates
3 clockwise by an amount ‘θ ’.
Q= 4 Derive the expression for the fixed end moment for a fixed beam of
which one of the supports is sinking by amount “δ”.
EXAMPLES
Ex= A fixed end beam of span 7m carries a UDL of 35 kN/m over entire span
1 and a point load of 45 kN at a distance 5m from left support. Calculate
fixed end moments and draw BMD. Take EI=Constant.
Ex= A fixed beam AB carries an u.d.l. 20 kN/m over entire span of 5 meter. If
2 support B sink by 1 mm find out fixed end moments.
Ex= Analyze the fixed beam shown in Figure, Draw shear force and bending
3 moment diagrams.

Ex= Analyses the fixed beam as shown in figure and draw the shear force
4 diagram, Bending moment diagram.

Ex= Determine all reaction components and draw shear force and bending
5 moment diagrams for a propped beam as shown in Figure by consistent
deformation method.

Ex= Find reaction at support for the beam shown in figure with using
6 Consistence deformation method.
