Anchoring Script For Cultural Event/Annual Function : Part 1

INTRODUCTION TO THE EVENT

Today is the big day,

To think of how far-flung we have come,

And how afar we have to go?

Along with multifarious struggles and triumphs,

There is much more to thrive and much more to show.

Let’s rejoice the majestic journey,

This establishment had had up to now,

Let’s raise a toast to make it even better,

Let us take a vow!

Anchor 1: Good evening to one and all present here, our honoured management/Director, Well
acclaimed chief guests and guests of honour, All treasured invitees, Revered teachers and of
course our startling students. How lovely is this day and so does the ambience and aura
surrounding it? Soon the colours of this merriment will unfold and will transport us to another
world.

Anchor 2: Yes dear, we are all joined together as a family to revel addition of another milestone
of our accomplishment in the history of one of the leading group of colleges of ________ (City
name, College name) We are here to celebrate our Tenth Annual Function ___________ (

NTRODUCTION TO ANNUAL FUNCTION

Anchor 1:
“Manzil mil he jati hai Ek din,
Ye koi mukaddar ke khel Nahi hote,

Anchor 2:- The theme of our Annual function ________ ( Function name) is
the concept of pulsating and appreciating the imaginative instincts and acts of
brilliant and talented students of ______ group of college to bring out their
hidden aptitude.
Anchor 1: The prophecy of our 10th annual day _____2016 has yet again
delivered the students a level of enhancement it takes along with it. It’s a day of
the out-and-out unsullied portrayal of flair and robustness of our nascent
scholars.
Anchor 2:- This is a platform to bring into line with our vision which states
that not only the scholarly development of an individual is important but the
development of complete persona which helps students to stand out in the
competitive professional environment.
Anchor 1: There are some out of sight support who although are not otherwise
visible but they play a major role in the organization of such events. They are

INTRODUCTION TO LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY

Anchor 1 :-

humility)
Like every other auspicious occasion let’s start this event by offering our
prayers to ‘Maa Saraswati” and conduct our customary LAMP-LIGHTING
ceremony as a tribute to Mother Saraswati, the embodiment of knowledge.
Anchor 2:- For this, we will request our honoured chief guests……………..,

Anchor 2:- DANCE is one of the most divine form Arts. It is much more than
just moving your hands and legs. Dance is actually a way to expression an
individual’s feelings. “Dancers are the messengers of the gods”

Anchor 1: So get set ready for all the excitement and delight. Save up your
energy folks because today we are going to catch sight of some great dances,
Some great flair. So let’s gear up for a striking beginning of the show.
INTRODUCTION TO ‘DURGA VANDANA’
Anchor 1:
“YA DEVI SARVA BHUTESHU , SHAKTI ROOPEN SANSTHITHA,
NAMASTASYEI NAMASTASYEI, NAMASTASYEI NAMO NAMAH”
Goddess Durga indicates power and ‘Shakti’. “Durga” means “the one who
eradicates miseries and woes. “Our institution firmly considers each and every
girl of our college as a “Durga” and always puts efforts to recognise girls of
their hidden supremacy. Let us unveil this power through this power packed
“Durga Vandana” performance.

Anchor 2: (After the performance)


What a holy and elegant beginning of the performances: This act gave wings of
reality to the real ambition of our establishment that is women empowerment.
Anchor 1: True that! This performance was the spot-on dedication to all the
tough women out there. Let’s pledge to ourselves.

Anchor 1: Yes, He is none other than our academic director _________. I
would like to invite Dr. _______ on stage for a welcome speech.

Thank you so much, sir.We feel really privileged to have your supervision and
backing with us at all times possible. Without you, all this would not have been
possible.

WELCOME OF THE CHIEF GUEST:
Anchor 1: We are extremely thrilled to have with us _________. This
extraordinary personality does not need any introduction at all. A nobleman
with a character of great heights, a prophecy of distinctness, an originator of
multifarious notions. You have made our society proud with all the great
endeavors taken over time.
Anchor 2: A statue of knowledge and experience. You are an inspiration to all

INTRODUCTION TO HIP HOP DANCE:
Anchor 1: Hey! I think our audiences need a little lift up now.
Anchor 2: Exactly! What if we give them a tiny bit of the hip hop music, dance,
and girls and boys dressed in loose fit pants and hoodies performing street
dances? I Hope you got enough hints?
Anchor 1: Any guesses? Yeah, Right it’s time for our next piece of
entertainment. It’s time for super rocking; super cool, super uber ‘Hip Hop
dance performance’. Let’s welcome the performers with a big round of applause
and let them know how eagerly we are waiting for this one?
Anchor 1: (After the performance) Oh my god! Guys, you broke the stumps on
stage. The performance was so energetic that the claps and hooting just don’t
seem to end. A big round of applause for the performers.
INTRODUCTION TO RAJASTHANI DANCE
Anchor 1:
Sunbeam on the eyes,
Castles on the highs
Deserts on the sides
Rainbow like kaleidoscopic guise
Exuberant mystique to make your spirits rise
Be prepared for your expectations to surmise
I bet with no reprise
Once you see Rajasthan
It would be hard to bid goodbyes.

These lines or for that matter, any lines are not sufficient to define the beauty
and art of this colorful place called “Rajasthan”. There is so much to see, so
much to explore, so much to discover and so much to assimilate here.
‘Ghoomar, one of the traditional folk dances of ‘Rajasthan’ is not just an act of
singing and dancing but is a considered a representation of womenfolk.
Anchor 2: Paying an homage to “GHOOMER” Here is a performance which
will let us all feel the ‘Rajasthani mitti ki khushbu’. Peeps let us string together
with this ‘Ghoomer’ act.
Anchor 1: (After the performance)
Wow! This for sure was one artistic and awe-struck performance. Nothing can
come at par with beauty and the classiness of our heritage.
Anchor 2: Yes, That was an unbelievable performance indeed which totally
fascinated the spectators. Isn’t this obvious with their applauds?
INTRODUCTION TO SEMI CLASSICAL DANCE:
Anchor 1: Let’s move forward to a different dance form that shouts of
sophistication and grace. It is time for a semi-classical dance act, a dance form
which is a combination of classical and Bollywood. Our next performance is a
dedication to Pandit Birju Maharaj on the song “ kahe ched ched mohe ”
Anchor 2: (After the Performance)
That was such a beautiful recital. How enchanting! A Rhyme of taps !! An
assortment of charming melody and marvellous harmony!
INTRODUCTION TO PRIZE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY
Anchor 1: Nobody is born a winner. To be a winner one must

Anchor 2: Here at _______ (Organization’s name), we not only value the
academics but also our creative tendencies, and cultivate it into something great
which stays with you for the lifetime. It brings the wide-ranging expansion in
students’ capability and disposition thereby increasing their chances of
sustaining in the ever fierce practical world.
Anchor 1: Now it is the time we give due recognition to the aptitude and
acumen of our brimming students, future leaders of society. It’s time for the
prize distribution ceremony. For this we would like to call upon stage

INTRODUCTION TO SALSA DANCE:

Anchor 1:

Anchor 2: I hope you got enough hints about our next act.
Anchor 2: Wait for it. We are going worldwide now with our next dance
performance. Dance of Love and robust “Salsa”.
Therefore, Buckle up your seat belt and let’s get ready to rock n roll.

(AFTER THE PERFORMANCE)

Anchor 1: Wasn’t this mind-blowing? I feel like we got transported to Latin


America.
Anchor 2: Yes even I can’t even stop my feet from tapping. You slayed it, girls.

INTRODUCTION TO MAHARASHTRIAN:
‘LAVANI’

Anchor 1: The secret of perfection in variety. In order to prove this statement


lets go ‘desi’ after going international with our next dance performance. Coining
from the state of Maharashtra this Dance form is a combination of
‘Maharashtrian’ peppy songs and dances which showcase various social sides in
an enjoyable form.
Anchor 2: We are now about to witness our next enticing performance which is
‘Lavani’, traditional dance style of Maharashtra. So put your hands together for
lavani on the song “Mala saude”. The stage is all yours ladies.
(AFTER THE DANCE)

Anchor 1: What a Beautiful and energy filled performance.


Anchor 2: Truly sophisticated and well formed.

INTRODUCTION TO PUNJABI DANCE

“Don’t stop make it pop,


DJ, Blow my speakers up.
Tonight, I am a fight,
Till we see the sunlight,
Tick tock on the clock,
But the party doesn’t stop, No.”

Anchor 2: And our party is not stopping anytime soon. Now it’s time for some
fun, frolic, ‘Masti’ and ‘maza’. Illuminating before you this full get-up-and-go
kinda Punjabi dance medley of ‘bhangra’ and ‘giddha’.
Anchor 1: Let’s gear up to get immersed in some oomph, some vibes of joy in
this upcoming flamboyant, and everybody’s favourite dance form Punjabi
Dance.

Anchor 2: What a pulsating and sparkling act.


Anchor 1: Truly vivacious. Audience’s reaction says it all.
INTRODUCTION TO FINALE:

Anchor 1: There is a completion of every celebration, but we rely on the faith


that there is never an end but always a beginning because the show must go on.
An end is a commencement of somewhat new, something so worthy, something
so inordinate. The beauty lies in relishing whatever we have in present and
expecting the best out of future. On this note, we are moving further with the
finale of this magnificent evening, Our finale act.

Anchor 2: :
” Mangalam bhagavan vishnum Mangalam garudadhwajah
Mangalam pundareekaksham
Mangalaya tano hari”
So let’s commence towards the breathtaking climax of this evening i.e. our
finale ‘Vishnu Stuti’ A dedication to Lord Vishnu.

Anchor 2: This is what we call Finale.


Anchor 1: Amazing act. Amazing dance steps, Amazing costumes, what a
grace and poise. Kudos to the choreographers for putting together this great act.

Anchor 1: High-spirited presentations, Lively dances, Top notch performances,


Stunning costumes, Too good to be true sets and most outstandingly, you, the
audience. The people who made this show possess life.
