Narrative Report in Student-Led School Watching And Hazard Mapping

In  order  to  improve  students’  level  of  awareness  on  the  potential  hazards  and  risk
within  and  around  the  school,  Tampalon  National  High  School  joined  hand  and  hand  in
this  year’s  S TUDENT-LED  SCHOOL  WATCHING  AND  HAZARD  MAPPING  this  day  of  June  20,
2018.  Increase  the  participation  of  children  in  addressing  potential  disasters  by
reducing  vulnerabilities;  and  inculcate  a  culture  of  safety  in  the  day-to-day
experience of children in school was the aim of the said activity.

To  make  STUDENT-LED  SCHOOL  WATCHING  AND  HAZARD  MAPPING  significant  to  the
students, we feature the following rationale;
❑ Strengthening  disaster  prevention,  mitigation  and  preparedness  is  one  of  the  key
strategies to address the vulnerabilities of children inside and outside the school.
❑ With  the  increasing  effects  of  climate  change,  it  is  important  to  raise  the  awareness
and  capacities  of  children  to  prepare  for  and  manage  possible  disasters  and/or
emergencies.  This  is  also  intended  to  influence  family  preparedness  as  the  learners
could share and apply their lessons at home.

The  activity  started  at  9:45  am  with  the  presence  of  the  student-led  watching  team
coordinator,  Mr.  Joseph  Ador  Monarca,  SSG  Officers  and  the  members  of  SWT.  It  ended  at
11:45 in the morning with a smile in our faces for our accomplishment.
