c. Corrects misconceptions, myths, and beliefs about common communicable
diseases, H8DD-IIIb-c-19

B. Motivation :
Ask students what sickness they have overcome while growing up. Ask them
about what were the measures taken to triumph over that disease.

C. Lesson Proper:

Activity:
Click the slide about Pathogens and show them pictures of different micro-
organisms. Ask students if they are familiar with the pictures shown.

Analysis:
What are the factors influencing the transmission of diseases? What mode they
are likely to be transmitted? What are the common practices in the country
would possibly cause the transmission of these micro-organisms?

Abstraction:
Discuss the definition and different types of pathogens.
Pathogens – tiny micro-organism

Types of Pathogen
1. Bacteria – one-celled microscopic organisms that rank among the
most widespread of living things.
2. Rickettsia – organisms that are considered intermediate, that is,
somewhere between a virus and a bacterium.
3. Viruses – are small, simple life-like forms from one-half to 100 the size
of a bacterium.
4. Fungi – are simple organisms that cannot make their own food.
5. Protozoa – are single-celled organisms that are larger than bacteria
and have a more complex cellular structure.
6. Parasitic Worms – a parasite.

Application:
Define at least three (3) types of pathogens. Name any two bacterial diseases.

IV. Evaluation
Write down steps you will consistently do to demonstrate personal
responsibilities and healthful practices in preventing and controlling
communicable diseases.
