our quantitative study entitled “Factors Affecting the Grades 11 and 12 STEM Students
in Allowance Allocation: A Comparative Study”. The intent of this quantitative study
is to discover the different factors and find out the differences of each factors between
the two different grade levels.

Our study requires us to conduct a survey with the respondents. In line with this,

Information Sheet

Dear Ma'am/Sir:

Greetings.

We are the researchers from Grade 12 STEM 5. We are conducting a research about
students and discover the comparison between the two grade levels regarding their
allowance allocation. We are going to give you the information about our research and are
inviting you to be a part of our study. You will not be forced to decide today whether you
will participate in the research or not. Before you will decide, you can approach anyone
from us if you feel uncomfortable on any part of our research.

If there are some parts that you do not understand, you may ask us and we will take the
time to explain. If you have questions later, you can ask questions to any of the
researchers

Purpose

We will identify the factors that affect the students’ allocating skills, considering
their expenditures, and also, will assess how those factors affect the allocating skills of
the STEM students and also identify the effect if the allowance is given on daily or
weekly basis.

Participant Selection

We are inviting Grade 11 and 12 STEM students currently enrolled in the school
year 2018-2019. Your experience and knowledge will help us contribute to our research.

Vocabulary Participation

The participation of the research is entirely voluntary. It is the people’s choice


whether to participate or not. Either he or she will choose to participate or not, all services
that they may receive at this experiment will continue and nothing will change. The
relatives can change their mind and stop participating in the research even if they agreed
earlier.

Procedures

We are inviting you to take part in this research project to help us learn more
about considering the factors and how you allocate plays an important role. If you
accept, you will be asked to answer a researcher-made survey questionnaire in order to
gather the data needed for the further development of the study. The research tool will
have two parts; first it will ask how often do the students receive their allowance and it
will survey the average school allowance of the students, then the next part asks for the
factors that affect their allocating skills.

Duration

The research takes place for two (2) days. During that time, it will be held
once and will take more or less than an hour depending on the speed of the responses.

Risks

We are asking you to share with us some personal and confidential information,
and if you feel uncomfortable talking about some topics. You do not have to answer
any question or the part in the interview if you do not desire to do so. You do not have
to give us any reason for not responding to any question, or for refusing to take part in
the interview.

Benefits

Potential benefits from participating in this study will help students in


understanding their allowance allocation with the help of your answers on our research
questions. Your participation can also help informing others on how to make use, and
how to allocate their allowance properly.

Reimbursements

You will not be receiving any incentive in participating in the research.


However, we will be giving snacks as a token of appreciation for your participation.

Confidentiality

We will not be sharing any identity of the participants in this research. The result
of the interview will be collected and will be kept confidential. It will not be shared by
anyone except the for the researchers.

Part 1: Information Sheet

Introduction:

We are researchers from G-12 S5 of San Pedro College (Main Campus), in line
with our research subject we are task to conduct a quantitative research and we will be glad
if you would like to be become one of our respondents. Our study is entitled "Factors
Affecting The Grades 11 and 12 STEM Students in Allowance Allocation: A Comparative
Study" we would want to discover the comparison between the two grade levels regarding
their allowance allocation.

We are going to give you information about our study and invite you to become a part of
it. Please be reminded that this is neither required nor obligatory, you can choose whether
you want to participate or not. We also recommend you to ask permission from your parents
for it is necessary if you are going to participate in our research. But if you do not wish to
take part in our research, you do not have to, even if your parents have agreed.

You may discuss anything written in this form with your parents or anyone else you feel
comfortable discussing about this matter. We do not ask instantly for you to decide whether
you will participate or not. You can decide to participate after you have talked about it or
thought of it over.
There are maybe terms or things that you do not understand because you are interested or
concerned feel free to ask us about it. Do not hesitate to approach us because we will
prioritize your concerns and be giving you time for us to explain.

Purpose:

Aside from a requirement for our research subject, we would like to discover the
comparison of the Grades 11 and 12 students in allowance allocation since this is a
comparative study.

Participant Selection:

We are randomly selecting Grade 11 and Grade 12 STEM students of San Pedro
College (Main Campus) to become a part of our quantitative study.

Voluntary Participation:

We would like to clearly tell you that we do not force you to become a part of this
if you do not want to be. It is still up to you whether you will participate or not. Even if
you have already say "yes" now, you can still change your decision and we will not have
issues on it but we will be glad to have you as one of our respondents.

Procedures:

First, we, the researchers will make a letter to the SHS coordinator to gather data.
We will also give letters to the validators in order to validate the research instrument. When
the research instrument is already validated, we will randomly select respondents, we will
hand over assent forms for our minor respondents and conduct the survey through giving
questionnaires to them. After the respondents answer the questionnaires given, the
researchers will collect and gather the data. Then the researchers will analyze and interpret
the results from the given data. Lastly, they will draw conclusions and offer
recommendations for the study.

Discomforts:

If you are not comfortable sharing your financial capability we will not enforce
you to share it.
Answering the questionnaires maybe time-consuming for you but we understand your
situation.

Benefits:

Our study will provide further understanding about factors affecting the allowance
allocation of Grades 11 and 12 STEM students. This proposed study will also help the
students avoid negligence and will make a way for the development of other positive
financial ties. By this, students will learn the importance of being financially capable in
terms of properly budgeting their allowance.

Confidentiality:

For protection of your privacy, we will not tell other people that you are in this
research nor share the questionnaire that you have answered. Information about you that
will be collected will be kept
and no-one but the researchers will be able to see it. We will tally all the scores of our
respondents and no information about what have you answered will be detailed in our
paper.

Sharing the Findings:

If you would want to know the findings, we are willing to share the results of our
quantitative study after we finished it since this is not possible without your participation.
We are willing to hand over a copy of this research.

Right to Refuse or Withdraw:

We would like to put an emphasis that you do not have to be in this research. No
one will be angry or disappointed if you will say no because it is your choice. We will give
you time to think about it and after coming up with a decision you still have the right to
refuse or withdraw.
