 Production Management :-

Production classification. :- In GOPAL PVT.LTD. “Continues Production System” is

existing. In gopal namkeen production facilities are arranged as per the sequence of production
operations from raw material sample testing to box packaging. The items are made to flow
through the sequence of operations through material handling devices such as conveyors,
transfer devices, etc. This is used when a very highly standardised product is desired in high
volumes.

Characteristics :-
 In gopal namkeen there is Dedicated plant and equipment with zero flexibility.
 There is Material handling is semi automated.
 They follow predetermined sequence of operations.
 In their products component product materials cannot be readily identified with final
products.
 Planning and scheduling is a routine action.
 Almost no variety in output.

Advantages :-
1. Standardisation of product and process sequence.
2. Higher rate of production with reduced cycle time.
3. Higher capacity utilisation due to line balancing.
4. Man power is less required for material handling.
5. Person with limited skills can be used on the production line.
6. United cost is lower due to high volume of production.

Limitations :-
1. Flexibility to accommodate and process number of products does not exist.
2. Very high investment for setting flow lines.
3. Production differentiation is limited.

Production Process :-

First they buy raw materials like besan, potatoes, spices, oil from fortune, Ramdev spices and
from local farmers. Then they use this raw material for production within 12 days because they
use parisheble goods in their raw material so for maintaining quality standards they have to use
the raw material it parishes first of all they do a raw material quality test of already bought in
laboratory raw material then if the raw material passes the quality standards than they store
this raw material on the 4th floor of then they uses this raw material for production like they
used besan for dough then they uses spices for making their secret masala and uses potatoes
for farali chevdo potato strips then they then they passes the dough for gathiya, sev, chavanu,
papdi and other namkeen items whare dough shaped into a particular namkeen and go ahead
for frying in oil then oil extractor take away extra oil then from the product then they add
different special masala for different namkeen in automated seasoning then the final product
that is namkeen is packed in different quantities of pouches and in the end they package this
pouches in boxes and deliver it in different areas of Gujarat to their dealers by their own trucks

Dhruv Mehta S.Y. Sem :4, (C)

the schedule. Company has also very high tech fire safety systems in it's production
house to avoid any kind of accident. Frying gives the crunch to the product and

namkeen. They are producing their own spices for each and every namkeen. In this
step there is specific quantity of spices are mixed with namkeen. It is important to
determine the quantity of spices per namkeen because taste of the namkeen depends
on this step. One machine mix the spices and namkeen very well

machine. Which packs the product according to weight, right product in the right bag
and with the product they add some amount of nitrogen in the bag. So this increases
