1 Preface
The software license and limited warranty for ROSOFT will appear during the
installation process and needs to be accepted before the installation can be
completed.

The complete software package consists of several modules displayed in the main
application window. The main module, ROSOFT Data Management, can be
considered an administrator for starting Components and fulfilling administrative tools
with the Control Panel.
The Installation Guide 6.64 contains information to assist the user during the
installation. It will be a valuable resource for the step-by-step installation procedure,
and will walk the user through a typical installation using the installation CD-ROM.
Components
ROSOFT Data Management (RDM)
Control Panel
The user can install ROSOFT Data Management either locally or on a network drive
and use it from a number of work stations.
The installation CD (containing the software) and the ROSOFT CD Serial no. 001
(containing the databases) should be saved on hard disk or network server.
All further ROSOFT CDs (Serial no. 002 – …) provide the measured inspection data
and can be copied or left on CD.
1. Before the Setup starts, the Setup Language can be chosen. To view the
selection and select the language from the list, use the up and down arrows. Click
<OK>.
3. This window welcomes the user to the InstallShield Wizard for ROSOFT Data
Management 6.64 Program. Click <Next>.
4. The License Agreement should be carefully read and the terms accepted before
installation can continue. Click <Next>.
6. If all of the selected settings are ok, click <Install> to start the installation.
7. Mark check box for display of the Windows Installer log. Click <Finish>.
Note: After successful installation, the user can run ROSOFT Data Management using the
Windows Start Menu shortcut.
3.3.1 Requirements
Administrator privileges.
Operating system Windows XP SP2, Vista or Windows 7.
Network share for inspection data (ROSWORK directory) with read/write
permissions for all ROSOFT Data Management users.

The application can be removed by using the Add/Remove Program Control Panel
functionality. Please select ROSOFT Data Management 6.64 in the Add/Remove
Program Window. Click <Remove>. Select <Yes> for confirmation.
4 Program start
Note: The 'admin' user has administrator rights regarding the security, project management and
archive functions. It is recommend, that this password is changed immediately after the
first login.
Data will normally be delivered to clients on CD's/DVD's with the project databases on
one CD/DVD and the Inspection Data files on other CD's/DVD's.
It is necessary to install the project databases (DBF files) from the CD/DVD onto the
computer hard drive.
The Inspection Data files do not need to be stored on the computer hard drive. Due to
their size, they normally remain on the CD's/DVD's.
1. From the ROSOFT Data Management main window tab the arrow to the right of
the Administration button to display the drop-down list.
4. After the project has been installed, click <Close> to return to the ROSOFT Data
Management application window.
ROSOFT Data Management software components such as <ROSOFT for
Pipelines> can now be started.
Note Without having selected a project (line) the user will NOT be able to start ROSOFT for
Pipelines. If only one line is installed, this line will be automatically activated.
If a line is already installed, the following message appears on the screen with
information about the user and computer where the line is installed. The installation
process terminates.
In order to guarantee that the inspection results can only be viewed by the
corresponding client, all data are encoded for the user ROSOFT version.
If the line is not correctly encoded a message appears and the installation process
terminates. Please contact the ROSEN OPCO for support.
1. From the ROSOFT Data Management main window tab the arrow to the right of
the Administration button to display the drop-down list.
2. Select <Line Manager>. The Line Manager dialog will appear. All available
pipeline projects are listed. Click the radio button next to the project you want to
select.
3. A confirmation dialog will appear. Click <Yes> to set the selection. ROSOFT will
change the active line and close the Line Manager application.

2. Select <Line Manager>. The Line Manager dialog will appear. Select the pipeline
you want to remove and click <Remove Line>.
3. A confirmation dialog will appear. Click <Yes> to remove the selected line.

In the Line Manager, the user can activate the ‘HDD’ check box with a left mouse
button click (hook visible) for those lines which the inspection data is to be copied to
hard disk (HD).

5 Appendix
This window welcomes the user to the Patch for RDM 6.xx. Click <Update> to
continue.
After clicking on Update to start the installation, the files will be copied to the hard
disk. The Update is finished after starting ROSOFT Data Management for the first
time – administrator privileges may be needed to complete the installation.
