The reading is about the comparison between erotic and pornographic art. The
author claimed that this generation desperately needs the vision of an erotic art that will
simply comply with the bible’s vision of sexual love. Erotic art is about introducing
commitment and sexual activity but anything that goes beyond, probably increasing
sexual arousal, is pure pornographic. Since the mass media possibly made the availability
of pornographic art to the public, the thin boundary between what is erotic and what is
porn are now gradually fading. Thus, raising question whether this generation can still
produce an erotic art which is not pornographic and can we manage to come up with an
idea or concept of having a Christian art? It is true that our culture and society are
defining the difference between art and pornographic, and we understand that erotic art
does not necessarily equal porn. But whether an art is erotic, regardless of its intention,
when one is thinking lust over it then there are flaws within that particular art. It
definitely becomes meaningless and therefore, such productions are simply bad art for
most Christians.
