Grammatical Models

The document discusses different grammatical models of Standard English. It notes that while there are many models, there is no single right model. These models help people better understand and apply grammar formally in both written and oral communication. However, all models have limitations and unresolved issues. As educators teach English as a second language, they must be aware of weaknesses in models and work to simply explain structures to solve issues in grammar.

GRAMMATICAL MODELS

Introduction

One of the major recent developments in linguistics is undoubtedly the

rapidly growing interest for the elaboration of a theory of texts and 'text

grammars'. Linguists form different concepts and contextualize how words use

into a sentence without an error and be able to transcend grammar into its

development. There are many different models of grammar of Standard English,

and it is not possible to say that the one is “right” and another is “wrong.” These

models help people to extend their comprehension on the study of grammar,

and apply this comprehension into a formal way of communication either oral

or written contexts.

While it is possible to provide a fairly distribution of grammatical structure

of English, there are inevitably a number of unresolved issues that cannot be

easily be covered, and it is important for English teacher to be aware of the

limits of their knowledge and to recognize that there are weaknesses in any kind

of analysis. The roles of the educators are important as they are the medium of

information in teaching English as Second Language, therefore with all of the

learning that they have gained and researches that they have done, they must

see to it that issues concerning the structures of English grammar must be solved

and be corrected as they teach everyone in a simplest manner.

Reflection

As the class is about to end and say goodbye to the subject, teacher,

and classmates, it makes me come into realization. As the subject is concerned,

it is always important that we must learn the structures of English Language and

to where and when it was started. The studies of different persons had a large

impact into our modern society nowadays. Nothing can be studied and

developed today without the knowledge of the past. I always want to visualize

my imagination about the subject and be able to have transition of my

knowledge as to what to do next, what I can provide, where I can get enough

information to lay down specific schema in teaching, and resolve issues

concerning English grammar that cannot be easily covered. In every topic of

the subject and discussion of the reporter, I asked myself “Did you understand

the lesson? How far your knowledge about the subject that helps you in

answering different questions in the assessment of the reporter?

This made my education worthwhile as I continue to achieve my goals in

educational processes. To assess how far I know about the different

Grammatical Models in teaching English Language.
