MA102 Tutorial 2 PDF

The document provides a tutorial sheet for Mathematics II that examines (1) the limits of several multivariable functions as (x,y) approaches (0,0), (2) the continuity of several functions f:R^2->R at (0,0), (3) that if a continuous function f is greater than 2 at a point X0 then it will be greater than 2 in a neighborhood of X0, and (4) finds the points where a piecewise defined function f:R^2->R is continuous.

that there is a δ > 0 such that |f (X)| > 2 whenever kX − X0 k < δ.

(4) f : R2 → R be defined by f (x, y) = 0 if x ∈ Q, y ∈ Q and f (x, y) = xy otherwise. Find all

the points in R2 where f is continuous.
