Course Outline
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to develop among students an awareness and
appreciation of the depth and breadth of our country’s literatures in order to foster among them the
desire for truth, love for country and nature, which will eventually constitute a competent,
compassionate and committed Augustinians.
1. Read and Analyze literary selections that exemplify the multivalent Filipino experiences and their
multivocal articulations.
6. Transform and extend creatively Philippine Literary materials to other artistic expression.

2. Each group must select two literary texts from each literary period.
3. After selecting the literary text, the groups will then analyze the story/poem/essay/drama based
on the elements present in the stories/poems/essays/scripts (refer to the matrix given). The output
must be submitted before discussing the literary text.
4. Each group is given fifteen (15) minutes to discuss the literary text and ten (10) minutes to
interpret the text through any creative means (e.g role-playing, poetry in motion, visual arts, etc.)
5. The group scheduled to present on a certain meeting must prepare name tags for the members
since they are to be graded individually by the teacher and the other group.
6. After the presentation, there will be a five-minute open forum where the other group could
comment on the performance of the group assigned to present.
7. The discussion and the presentation must be monitored strictly. The group which failed to present
on the given schedule will not be given a chance to present anymore.
