 What is INSITE

 INSITE is a Windows software application that works with Cummins electronic

control modules (ECMs) to diagnose and troubleshoot engine problems, store
and analyze historical information about an engine, and modify an engine's
operating parameters.
 INSITE Professional also enables you to download calibrations to an ECM.
 You use INSITE on a Windows based PC that is attached to an ECM through a
Cummins approved datalink adapter.

 Registering INSITE™

 Sebelum INSITE™ dapat digunakan, harus didaftarkan terlebih dahulu

melalui Cummins distributor terdekat.

 Basic password diperlukan dan memberikan akses ke INSITE read-

only and does not expire. Selanjutnya untuk full access pada semua

fitur INSITE™ dibutuhkan functionality password.

 Connecting INSITE™

Menghubungkan PC ke ECM:

 Work Orders

A work order digunakan untuk menyimpan dan melihat informasi tentang ECM
history dan repair activity . Direkomendasikan menggunakan work order untuk setiap
engine maintenance atau repair yang dilakukan.
Data Entry
• Beberapa informasi yang dibutuhkan dapat dibaca dari ECM dan telah tercatat
secara automatic didalam data field dan tidak dapat di edit. Beberapa informasi
yang lain dapat dimodifikasi jika diinginkan.
• Nomor Work Order merupakan identifikasi work order, dimulai dengan huruf ‘W’ dan
ikuti tanggal dan waktu. Nomor ini dapat ditulis ulang sampai 24 karakter.

 Work Orders

 Work Order berisikan ECM image yang merupakan copy data

dari ECM.
 Work Orders terdapat beberapa Image
 By default, “Initial” image dibuat ketika INSITE connected to ECM dengan
Work Order Mode enabled
 By default, “Final” image dibuat ketika INSITE disconnecting from ECM
dengan Work Order Mode enabled
 Additional “User” image dibuat didalam WO dan INSITE connected to ECM
 Work Order and Image names are defaulted to a Date – Time format (i.e.
WO-20041027-145950 = 10/27/2004-2:59:50).
Nama ini dapat dirubah saat melakukan data entry didalam WO untuk
membantu identifikasi specific customer, vehicle or equipment

 Work Orders
 Each image can be exported for use in two ways:
• Exported as an INSITE compatible file, .eif (exported image file) to be
imported by another user with INSITE
• To an external file, “Image Name.csv” (Comma Separated Value)
• Format ini dapat dibuka dengan Excel, Word, Notepad dll.

 Work Orders can be created automatically by INSITE or manually by the

user

 Fault Codes
Fault Codes window menampilkan fault data pada engine. Setiap fault
ditampilkan melalui fault code yang mengindikasikan specific malfunction or
abnormal condition didalam controller, subsystem atau engine.
 Kolom fault code menampilkan nomor Cummins fault code dan
menunjukkan lamp status
 Kolom PID (Parameter Identification Description) menampilkan nomor
yang setara dengan Cummins fault code
 Kolom SID (Sub-system Identification Description) menampilkan nomor
yang setara dengan Cummins fault code
 Kolom J1587 FMI (Failure Mode Identifier) menampilkan nomor/ kode SAE
J1587 yang setara dengan Cummins fault code

 Data Monitor/ Logger
Menggunakan Data Monitor/Logger untuk melihat live engine data atau log
monitor data yang diperlukan untuk analisis.
Parameter yang telah dipilih dapat dimonitor saja (no recording) atau
dimonitor dan log (recorded).
 Viewing Monitor Data, menampilkan parameter yang telah dipilih tanpa
disimpan sebagai file.
 Data Log, mengambil data/ nilai pada parameter yang telah dipilih
secara kontinyu dan disimpan sebagai file untuk analisis. Jumlah data
yang terkumpul pada masing – masing parameter ditentukan oleh waktu
dan sampling rate.
 Data Snapshot adalah mencatat semua parameter yang dipilih dengan
seketika, dapat dilakukan saat proses monitoring atau logging. Hanya
sebuah data yang dicatat/ disimpan untuk setiap parameter.

 Advanced ECM Data
Duty Cycle Monitor
 Duty Cycle Monitor menggambarkan secara grafik persentasi waktu
vehicle run didalam specific operating ranges.
 Operating ranges berdasarkan pada engine speed (RPM) vs torque.
 Engine speed ditampilkan pada sumbu X .
 Torque didalam grafik ditampilkan pada sumbu Y.
 Nilai RPM dan torque ditentukan oleh calibration.
 Setiap blok pada grafik menunjukkan intersection nilai RPM dan nilai
torque yang menunjukkan specific operating range engine.
 Nilai angka yang ditampilkan didalam setiap blok adalah persentasi
total waktu yang mana engine dioperasikan dalam range tersebut.

Duty Cycle Monitor Maps
 Short Term Map 1 - This map logs a total of 500 hours.
• Ketika telah melewati 500 jam pada Duty Cycle Monitor Short
Term map 1, INSITE secara automatic memulai logging on Duty
Cycle Monitor Short Term Map 2.
 Short Term Map 2 - This map logs a total of 500 hours.
• Setelah 500 hours telah tempuh pada Short Term Map 2, Duty
Cycle Monitor akan menghentikan penambahan data ke maps 1
and 2 sampai data direset.
 Long Term Map - This map records operating ranges over the
life of the engine or vehicle.
• The Long Term Map can not be reset.

 Features and Parameters

 Features and Parameters window digunakan untuk enable or disable

specific features terkait dengan ECM dan untuk set operating
parameters/values feature tersebut.

 PC harus terhubung dengan ECM untuk merubah features and parameters.

Jika PC tidak terhubung dengan ECM, kita dapat melihat features and
parameters yang tersimpan pada ECM image, juga dapat melihat simulasi
featurs and parameters setting didalam Simulator Mode.

 Daftar fitur didalam Features and Parameters window tergantung pada ECM
type

 Calibrating an ECM (INSITE Pro)

 INSITE Professional dapat melakukan fungsi ECM calibrations.

Calibration Download digunakan untuk update ECM
 Proses download calibration meliputi:
1. Select an ECM part number.
2. Select a Certification Code for your location.
3. Send the calibration to the ECM.
 Right Click Menu
Didalam Calibration Selection window, right-click anywhere with your
mouse to perform other related activities.

 Use Calibration filtering to reduce number of Calibrations list

 Calibration Authorization Password is required for uprating or ROM

 To send a calibration to ECM setup:

1. Jika INSITE™ tidak autodetect temukan dan highlight kalibrasi yang diinginkan didalam
calibration list (linked).
2. Double-click the highlighted calibration atau right-click pada calibration window and pilih
Transfer to ECM. IMPORTANT!!Read the “Warning!” message displayed on the
welcome page carefully and select Next to continue.
3. Jika calibration authorization password diperlukan, Calibration Authorization window akan
terbuka. Fleet Calibration Count atau Calibration Authorization Password must be entered.
Select Next to continue.
4. System ID and Dataplate Information window will open. Verify the Summary information is
correct and select Next to continue.
5. Adjustment Confirmation message will appear. Select OK to continue.
6. INSITE™ will begin calibrating the ECM. Follow the prompts and do not turn off the key
switch unless instructed. IMPORTANT!! Follow the instructions and select OK.
8. Akhir calibration download, it will be necessary to cycle the key switch. Follow the INSITE™
prompts as required.
9. After calibration transfer has completedThis will also appear in the summary of the
Calibration Transfer window. Select OK.
10. Select Next to continue.
11. Select Finish to close the ECM Calibration Download Wizard.
