1 Overview
1.1 Description
The alarm is a secondary alarm. The alarm is issued by the MO
Synchronization.
The alarm informs that the radio clock is about to enter FREE_RUNNING_MODE.
The alarm is issued if there is no synchronization reference configured on the
node, or as a result of a fault indication in the corresponding primary alarm,
which can be:
• Loss of Tracking
The additionalText indicates the date with format yyyy-mm-dd, when the
clock enters FREE_RUNNING_MODE and when the System Clock Quality
Degradation alarm will be issued. The additionalText can be:
As a consequence of the fault, the clock fulfills the accuracy requirements for
normal operation, both for transport and radio interfaces, but only for a limited
time. During this period, the required accuracy is maintained for traffic over
radio interfaces, and over SDH or PDH transport interfaces.
1.2 Prerequisites
This section provides information on the documents, tools and conditions that
apply to the procedure.
1.2.1 Documents
Before starting this procedure, ensure that you have read the following
documents:
1.2.2 Conditions
Before starting this procedure, ensure that the following condition is met:
2 Procedure
3. Wait for the alarm to cease. Normally, this takes up to 16 minutes. If the
alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, continue
with the next step.
For all the defined references with the value FAILED or DEGRADED, follow
the steps described in Section 2.2 on page 6.
For all the defined references with the value NOT_RELIABLE, go to Step 5.
For all the defined references with the value PDV_PROBLEM, go to Step 7.
For all the defined references with the value NOT_SLAVE, go to Step 11.
For all the defined references with the value QL_TOO_LOW, go to Step 13.
5. Look for the alarm Synch Reference Not Reliable in the alarm list.
If there is an alarm, continue with the next step. If there is no alarm, go
to Step 17.
6. Act on this alarm, using the instruction Synch Reference Not Reliable. If
the alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, go
to Step 17.
7. Look for the alarm Sync Reference PDV Problem in the alarm list. If
there is an alarm, continue with the next step. If there is no alarm, go to
Step 17.
8. Act on this alarm, using the instruction Sync Reference PDV Problem. If
the alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, go
to Step 17.
9. Look for the alarm Loss of Tracking in the alarm list. If there is an
alarm, continue with the next step. If there is no alarm, go to Step 17.
10. Act on this alarm, using the instruction Loss of Tracking. If the alarm
ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, go to Step 17.
11. Look for the alarm Sync Ref 1000BASE-T Not Slave in the alarm list.
If there is an alarm, continue with the next step. If there is no alarm, go
to Step 17.
12. Act on this alarm, using the instruction Sync Ref 1000BASE-T Not Slave.
If the alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, go
to Step 17.
13. Look for the alarm Sync Ref Quality Level Too Low in the alarm
list. If there is an alarm, continue with the next step. If there is no alarm, go
to Step 17.
14. Act on this alarm, using the instruction Sync Ref Quality Level Too Low.
If the alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, go
to Step 17.
15. Look for the alarm Ethernet Sync Ref ESMC PDUs Missing in the
alarm list. If there is an alarm, continue with the next step. If there is no
alarm, go to Step 17.
16. Act on this alarm, using the instruction Ethernet Sync Ref ESMC PDUs
Missing. If the alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not
cease, go to Step 17.
17. Consult the next level of maintenance support. Further actions are outside
the scope of this instruction. The alarm might be caused by a problem
in the network.
1. Look for the alarm Synch Reference Path HW Fault in the alarm
list. If there is an alarm, continue with the next step. If there is no alarm,
go to Step 3
2. Act on this alarm, using the instruction Synch Reference Path HW Fault.
If the alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, go
to Step 15.
3. Look for the alarm Sync Reference Excessive Wander in the alarm
list. If there is an alarm, continue with the next step. If there is no alarm,
go to Step 5.
4. Act on this alarm, using the instruction Sync Reference Excessive Wander.
If the alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, go
to Step 15.
5. Identify the reference with the highest priority, using the information in the
attribute syncRefPriority in the MO Synchronization.
8. Act on this alarm, using the relevant instruction from the following:
If the alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, go
to Step 15.
9. Look for the corresponding PDH alarm in the alarm list. If there is an alarm,
continue with the next step. If there is no alarm, go to Step 15.
10. Act on this alarm, using the relevant instruction from the following:
• ET Hardware Fault
If the alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, go
to Step 15.
11. Look for the corresponding SDH alarm in the alarm list. If there is an alarm,
continue with the next step. If there is no alarm, go to Step 15.
12. Act on this alarm, using the relevant instruction from the following:
• Loss of Signal
• Loss of Frame
• MS Degraded Signal
• ET Hardware Fault
If the alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, go
to Step 15.
13. Look for the corresponding IP alarm in the alarm list. If there is an alarm,
continue with the next step. If there is no alarm, go to Step 15.
14. Act on this alarm, using the relevant instruction from the following:
If the alarm ceases, exit this procedure. If the alarm does not cease, go
to Step 15.
15. Consult the next level of maintenance support. Further actions are outside
the scope of this instruction.
