Introduction to Storytelling
Developing a Story

Learning Objectives
At the end of the session, the learners will be able to:

a. identified what is storytelling and the purpose of it;


b. outlines a story in preparation for storytelling and to be
presented before an audience; and
c. evaluates a story for its storytelling potential.

Everybody has a story to tell. Humans


have been telling stories since we could speak. As
long as there have been people, there have
been stories. From the stories told in paintings
on the ancient caves at Lascaux to the bedtime
stories told to young children, stories make up
our history and guide our future.

Storytelling is the process of using fact and narrative to


communicate something to your audience. Some stories are
factual, embellished or improvised in order to explain the
message of the story easily and better.

experiences and knowledge with the class by telling something

front of the class. Just pick three images that you would like to

Module 1: Lesson 1 will focus on the development and
widening of one’s vocabulary that can be used in telling story
and will make the storyline more interesting.

In every stories, the author is not just making the story


line out of nowhere. The author always put considerations first
on his/her personal experiences. Adding personal experiences

a character in the Story. It will tackle about the step and criteria
on how to develop and select your own character that can be
used in the storyline.
