BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CRIMINOLOGY
This concept provides the researcher to profoundly study the
effectiveness and the relevance of safety among communities and the level of
their understanding on functions of national security in their places. It is
common among citizens to ask on the services delivered by the government
and assess the effectiveness as well as the benefits of the programs, projects,
even proposed bill that will directly affect the community.
For the past administration in the Philippines, these are the different
curfews imposed by the legislative and even local ordinance which promotes
anti-hazards, anti-crimes and anti-violence program. It is indeed an ideal
proposition of providing a safe and sound environment among Filipinos who are
weak on the disadvantageous effects of changing generations from a more
liberated one. In connection to crimes, adult are not just prone of it even
children. The manifestations of curfew in the country were based on rampant
news of killings which involve minors. Another index of it is the habitual
activities of Filipinos that causes disturbance in the community such as singing
using karaoke until dawn, drinking or having party on the streets and gang was
participated by different fraternities or street children.
In the advent of changing society, people are vulnerable of adopting
on changes. However, in proper guidance of the state, it is possible that people
acquire what is due to surpass endeavors. It is the utmost purpose of the study
to evaluate the deterrent effects of curfew in Brgy. Diezmo City Cabuyao of
Laguna that imposed ordinances for curfews on habitual activities, minor

welfare, safety and security measures to empower the law of the country. It is
the role of the researchers to gather appropriate data of responses from the
respondents and deliver public information on the perception of local
government officials and concern citizens with regard to the effectiveness on
the imposed curfew in the community.
Objectives of the Study
1. Determine the level of effectiveness of curfew hours in terms of crime
prevention and crime control.
2. Determine the problems encountered and enforcing curfew hours.
3. Determine the solutions offered to address the above mention problem.
Statement of the Problem
1. What is the level of effectiveness of curfew hours in Brgy. Diezmo
Cabuyao City? In terms of the following:
a. Crime prevention
b. Crime control
2. Problems encountered and enforcing curfew hours in Brgy. Diezmo
Cabuyao City.
3. What are the solutions offered to address the above mention problem?
Statement of Hypothesis
This study used null hypothesis which stated that there is no
significant differences on how effective the curfew hours for prevention of minor
to be involved in crime.
Significance of Study
This study maybe significant to the following:
Minors- this study can help minors to realize what are the effects of curfew in
the community?
PNP- this study can help police department to prevent and control the crime
which is the minor is involved.
Barangay- this research would help the community and parents in assessing
the behavior of the children.
Society- this study will make every community organized and unified through
the formulation of public policies that may regulate curfew hour.
Future Researchers- this research could be a source of information to those
who will conduct further research on effectiveness of curfew hour.
Scope and Limitation of the Study
This study dealt on the Effectiveness of City Ordinance No. 524
(Curfew Hour) to the Youth of Brgy. Diezmo City of Cabuyao Laguna in all
members of the barangay who randomly chosen, served as the respondents of
the study. Brgy. Diezmo Cabuyao City Laguna served as the research locale
the number of respondent is 100 representing 50 minors, 25 parents and 25
barangay enforcement.

Definition of Terms
Curfew- is a law, regulation, or ordinance that forbids particular people or
particular classes of people from being outdoors in public places of certain
specified times of the day.
Juvenile Curfews Law- it is set by state and local governments, juvenile
curfew laws are intended to restrict the hours during which minors are allowed
to be out in public. After the designated time, anyone under 18 years of age is
prohibited from being on the streets or patronizing a business. The purpose of
juvenile curfew laws is to prevent criminal activity and protect the health and
welfare of minors.
Minors- In law, a minor is a person under a certain age, usually the age of
majority, which legally demarcates childhood from adulthood. The age of

majority depend upon jurisdiction and application, but it is generally 18. A
person who is not yet old enough to have the rights of an adult.
Law Enforcement- A law enforcement officer is a government employee who is
responsible for the prevention, investigation, apprehension, or detention of
individuals suspected or convicted of offenses against the criminal laws,
including an employee engaged in this activity who is transferred to supervisory
or administrative position.
