BRIDGE MODEL
Create a bridge model based on your team desires.
A limit of 2 hours will be given for bridge construction.
RESOURCES
XXXpcs popsicle sticks (exact number will be on the day of event)
1pc. 1-foot ruler
1 pair of scissors
1 ball of yarn (small)
1 small clear (transparent) tape
BRIDGE SPECIFICATION
400 mm ≤ Length (L) ≤ 550 mm
(End to end of the bridge laid on a flat surface)
100 ≤ Width (B) ≤ 120 mm
(Side to side of the bridge laid on a flat surface)
Height (H) + Depth (D) ≤ 250 mm
NOTE
RESOURCES will be provided and should be the ONLY materials to be used to
build the bridge.
SAMPLE MODELS:
MODEL 1
MODEL 2
MODEL 3
MODEL 4
Phase I: Screening
Each bridge must pass the required bridge specifications before it is accepted for the next phase. A bridge
will not be able to proceed for next phase if:
o Did not reach and/or exceeded the required minimum/maximum bridge Length (L)
o Exceeded the maximum bridge Length (L)
o Exceeded the maximum bridge Width (W)
o Exceeded the maximum bridge Height (H) + Depth (D)
o Other materials aside from the RESOURCES given were used.
NOTE:
A group that did not pass the phase 1 will automatically get 0% on project.
Phase II: Bridge Testing
Weights will be applied at the mid span of the bridge
If the bridge fails at the nth load applied, the total load applied will be the last placed load before it failed
The bridge will be considered fail if it is in total destruction state.
NOTE:
In special case that the bridge collapsed right after 1st load is applied, then total applied load will be 0. The group
will automatically get 0% on project.

Grading System
Each group will be ranked according to the highest to lowest total applied load before the destruction of the
bridge.
1st – 1.0 (highest possible grade)
2nd and 3rd- 1.25 (highest possible grade)
4th and 5th - 1.5 (highest possible grade)
NOTE:
In case of a tie, the highest rank they are in will be their grade.
For example
A and B ties at 1st (they are 1st and 2nd), therefore 1st is the highest rank they are in
C and D ties at 2nd (they are 3rd and 4th), therefore 3rd is the highest rank they are in.
E is last (5th)
