Ramesh PTE Preperation
Myself Ramesh Panigrahi, Electrical Engineer, PM Consultant with WSP at Muscat, basically from
Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.
PTE aspirant and Yes, an Australia Migrant. As on 31st March I was 70 pointer. My PTE Journey started
on 11th Apr and I started working on PTE seriously for 79 plus as we know the 70 pointers have no
value and I was having no option other than cracking PTE and desperately gave exam every 2 weeks
till July 11th. I was loosing with 4-5 marks in Reading.
After 11th July round, When I came to know non prorata even 70 pointers will be cleared under 189. I
was pretty happy and thought I will get ITA without PTE itself (as in july 11th round, they cleared 70
pointer till 6th march, my doe was 28th march). so, kept praying god. On 25th July we all got message
that It will be single round and next round is in 11th August.
I lost 5 points on 3rd August and became 65 pointer and lost the ITA opportunity. This made me coolly
think that PTE is only option to see my family in Australia. I started reconciling where exactly I am
going wrong. I knocked every door, every 79plus achiever to see my scorecard and tell me where I am
lacking. Different answers but useful although. One person who watched me so desperate and missing
in whisker, suggested me that if I am ok, I need to go for coaching and yes, after 7 attempts, I joined
an institute for pte coaching. The trainer made me focus on simple areas like grammar, reading,
speaking and fine tuned me with his great strategy, I kept aside all my strategies, my templates etc.
followed him. Results are proven. I am not doing any marketing for the coaching center, but I want to
say, I chose a god and then followed as I thought I can achieve with this.
Below I will share my experience and knowledge I gained in my journey. Hope it will be useful.
Help others, then you will be helped by God. Trust on this. I am a live example and will do my duty to
help you guys. – See above highlighted how I was helped.
Guys don’t crave for materials pls. I did this mistake for 2 months, joined almost 20 groups in whatsapp
and telegram. I got around 45GB of materials. What can I do if I don’t strategise my attempts, basics.
There is no use of such material. At the end, I will share websites and materials for you to crack 79plus
easily. Its all available free in internet and yes, don’t fall into any spammers / don’t think nothing
comes free. With PTE its possible. Important groups with trainers also I listed in the end who help
without any selfish thought/desire for money.
FYI I was cheated by a guy and an institute in the beginning with useless materials and fake contents
which is available free in market. They are surrounded and foxes in the groups. Pls pm to me if u are
offered any one, I will tell if its genuine or not.
Speaking – I will share my sample mock speaking section how I did.
Always I get speaking 90 with Oral Fluency and pronunciation – both 90s.
Read Aloud
This was a culprit in my exam which I never thought of and affecting my reading scores.
35-40s preparation time was given only that we should be accustomed to the paragraph and read it
like “natural speaker” – same way like how we talk. Not style, not rhythm, natural flow with standard
pace. Throughout the speaking section.
So, during preparation, please read the prompt loud as if you are recording. You will come across
difficult phrase / pause/words. Capture and re-read them.
Concept is natural pace reading should complete ideally by 25 sec, max 30sec.
Adding/missing/replacing words are error here. But every exam I used to miss/add/replace 1-2 words.
This is very important from Speaking and Reading – 35 each. I did a typical speaking mock and got 35
in reading module and 45 in listening module.
Repeat sentence
Here we need to repeat the sentence as it is. We need to ensure tone of sentence. Like if it is
instruction or questioning or asking tone etc.
When prompt starts, I used to read (in my mind) along with the prompt and repeat the same. I did the
same and ensure mirror image of the prompt in front of me.
This is very important for Listening and Speaking. 35marks each module.
Describe image
Here before exam starts, I write below on the paper : line graph / bar chart / histogram / pie chart /
picture / image
10 sec preparation time – see the topic, identify and tell yourself the topic is <<< >>> and in 1999
<<<>>> and 2000<<<>> : just like a rehearsal.
Template: The line graphs indicates <<<<topic>>>>. We can find that it is measuring the <<<<content
of graph>>> and describe the x axis and y axis. From the graph we can infer that there is << major
observation or any 2 high low number / pie chart distribution >>>. Overall the graph indicates that <<<
again topic >>>>.The flow and tone of DI must be as read aloud tone and pace > >>> more importantly.
This contributes only to Speaking. You will lose marks only if u fumble / or give big pause. I complete
well before the timer ends.
Retell Lecture
Then, what ever she/he speak : I try to write a sentence or a phrase : maximum 3 sentence A, B, C –
complete. Yes while writing I will miss the prompt, its ok.
Once I write, I see the timer moving, when it is near the end, I will try to capture conclusion – 1 phrase
say D.
Preparation time 8-10sec : I will do a mock in my mind : just read all words which I wrote, ignore all
the words which I couldn’t understand my handwriting itself. So that I should not fumble while I read.
The lecture was talking abt <<< >>>>. The lecture mentioned key words related to this topic such as
The lecturer concluded stating <<<D sentence>>>>. That’s it, if say you have still timer still more. You
can say the topic is very important to understand the lecturer concern.
The flow must be as read aloud tone and pace > >>> more importantly.
One one-two word anser. Just a day before exam read questions and answers. If you don’t know the
answer . repeat key word from question or repeat the prompt atleast. Don’t keep silent.
Before this, you must understand types of sentences : simple, compound, complex sentence. This is
more important for Swt and Essay, SST. So pls know this. Either from youtube or ping me.
Strategy A : If you could understand what its talking about then automatically, u will find key sentences
– capture 3 sentences (complete). Say A, B & C.
Strategy B : Say you didn’t understand, then, from the question, take first sentence, and last 2
sentence of each para. Say A, B & C
Answer :
<<<< Sentence A >>>>> , and <<<<sentence B>>>; however/which/while/such as <<<<< Sentence C>>>
Some say that in today's world the value of humanities has been eclipsed by the necessity of
preparing for specific wealth-producing careers, such as medicine. Discuss whether you think
there is a role in today's changing world for study of the humanities.
Once you are clear, the below types in rephrase the essay for flow of essay. Ensure you must have a
compound sentence.
1. In towns and cities, large shopping malls should replace the small local shops. Do you agree or
disagree?
One of the most conspicuous trends of today's world is that large shopping malls should replace the
small shops in the market. There is widespread worry that this will only lead to a myriad of problems
among buyers and sellers. In my opinion, this apprehension is warranted and merits serious
consideration.
There are numerous arguments in favor of my stance. The most preponderant one is that it is easy
to approach a small shop for shopping. Not only these shops reduce wastage of time for shopping,
but also helps in earning for a number of sole traders, which is not possible in large shopping
centers. Needless to say, all these merits stand small shops in good stead, as far as wastage of time
and employment of people is concerned.
Another pivotal aspect of this argument is that small shops are cost effective. Besides, due to very
small expenses on the sale of products, it ultimately reduces the product price. Hence, it is apparent
why many are in favor of the small shops.
In view of the arguments outlined above, one can conclude that the benefits of small shops are
indeed too great to ignore
Opinion
Some say that in today's world the value of humanities has been eclipsed by the necessity of
preparing for specific wealth-producing careers, such as medicine. Discuss whether you think
there is a role in today's changing world for study of the humanities.
One of the most conspicuous trend of today's world is that the value of humanities is declining due
to the necessity of preparing for wealth-producing careers. There is widespread worry that this will
only lead to a myriad of problems for humanities graduates. In my opinion, this apprehension is
unwarranted and so should be rejected.
There are numerous arguments in favor of my stance. The most preponderant one is that a study
about human existence develops an understanding of human behavior. Not only this approach helps
in helping the mankind, but also helps in building an edge over other graduates who are in the que
for jobs. Needless to say, all these benefits stand humanities education in good stead when a
knowledge about mankind is concerned.
Another pivotal aspect of this argument is that lot of customer service jobs are demanding a study
about human psychology, which is only possible through this qualification. Besides, the humanities
education also helps a scholar in developing social and personal skills which are very crucial
throughout the life. Hence, it is apparent why many are in favor of the humanities study.
In view of the arguments outlined above, one can conclude that the benefits of the humanities
education are indeed too great to ignore.
One of the most conspicuous trends of today’s world is a significant change into the means of
communication in the society. As such, there are both merits and demerits to this trend, although I
am of the opinion that the former outdo the latter.
There is a deluge of arguments in favor of my stance, but the most preponderant one is that due to
this change the world has become a global village. Not only there is an improvement in means of
communication with the introduction of internet and mobile phones, but also there is a significant
advancement in the devices of communication, with the introduction of hi-tech gadgets like mobiles,
laptops and so. Needless to say, all these benefits stand this change in good stead when doing
communication development is concerned.
There are, however, some pitfalls that can easily overwhelm the potential benefits of something.
Primarily, the people in the modern era are coming closer to the population around the planet, but
they are moving away from their real personal and social relations. Hence, it is apparent why many
are against this communication development.
In view of the arguments outlined above, one can conclude that despite some drawbacks, the
benefits of Information advancement are indeed too great to ignore.
