TEMPLATE - PR Status Report
Key Definitions
Activity:any single initiative that you are working on and want to report on and measure. An activity
can include pitching the media, submitting an award application, writing a blog post, and the like.
Goals:something you are striving for, such as an increase in leads or social media engagement. Goals
can range from micro (how many articles you want to place) to macro (how much you want to increase
organic web traffic). Goals should be created collaboratively with your leaders, measured regularly (at
least once a quarter), and reflect actual business objectives.
Deliverable:something tangible like a blog post, content asset, email campaign, or an event.
Media Coverage
This section includes earned media placements such as executive features and profiles, trend stories,
case studies, company profiles, seasonal features, and editorial calendar opportunities. These are
separate from news-related stories and thought leadership.
Example:
Secure 4 media placements 3 media placements (include list with links to coverage)
Increase organic website traffic by 10% Increased by 18% (include traffic report)
Determine which pitches are the most Identified top 4 (include report on pitch-to-success rate for
successful top pitches)

Social Media Engagement
This section includes your plan for engaging through social media channels. It may include a target
number of social media posts you’ll create, a program for growing content on LinkedIn, etc.
Example:
Increase average engagement on Twitter Past 180 days showed a 7.2% increase in engagement from
by 6% every 180 days previous time period.
Thought Leadership
This section includes details for increasing awareness for key executives and/or the brand through
thought leadership initiatives. This may include contributed articles, speaker placements, and social
media activity.
Example:
Special Events
This section includes details for special events you are planning. These may include a user conference
or customer appreciation luncheon; a press event; a restaurant or venue opening; or an investor
meeting.
