I. OVERVIEW
The big competitors it has in Vietnam are Vedan, Miwon, A-One. It has the biggest
market share in Vietnam so most of Vietnamese households use Ajinomoto MSG

Workers are only available in some areas. For example, they showed us the
packaging area of MSG. There are machines and people in there. The company
wants to ensure the quality of products before selling to customers. Humans can
check to see whether there are flies, bad materials or not.

Retail Layout
Ajinomoto has many types of items to attract consumers in order to make the
cooking process become easier. It includes MSG; Aji-ngon Pork, Chicken,
Mushroom & lotus seed; Aji-mayo; Soya Sauce; Lisa Vinegar; Aji-Quick Hotpot,
Braise, Noodle Menu, Aji-Quick Crispy Flour; Bot canh, Pancake Mix Powder.
Every customer can choose Ajinomoto as a brand for multiple choices before
cooking.
Two big factories in Vietnam are Bien Hoa Ajinomoto Factory (opened in 1991)
and Ajinomoto Long Thanh Factory (opened in 2008). They are all located in
Industrial Zones. These sites can provide benefits such as large storage with lower
costs, less traffic to deliver.
Ajinomoto manufactures MSG for the whole Vietnam so Long Thanh Factory is
the better place for them to produce, stock and deliver to three big parts of the
country.
There are some processes that humans need to involve in. For instances, the
process of breaking eggs into containers to get principal ingredients for Aji-mayo.
Eyes can discover damaging eggs to remove the small containers before harming
the whole line. After this, eggs are going to go through secret steps of machine and
humans to create final ones.

Company hires various employees to distribute to where they need for making a
single products or family of related products. Employees can rotate the positions
when it needs or has to.
Corporation offers programs, events, benefits, bonus to seek best personnel and
machine utilization. Employees can come to Japan to study, work, exchange,
travel. Japan is very famous for machine. Therefore, repetitive and continuous
production is operated effectively in Ajinomoto.

Human resources and job design
Ajinomoto posts jobs on website, allow visit tours for candidates seeking jobs. The
interview process posted on the website is CV screening, pre-interview (face to
face), entrance test, final interview (face to face) and job offer letter. They tend to
recruit people in long term by benefits for permanent employees. They create the
environment and the loyalty among employees to commit to the company as long
as they can. They don’t fire their employees. Therefore, it is appropriate with not
taking risk or stable people.
They have experienced, trained staffs to help when workers need. The amount of
work can be adjusted to fit with different ones.
As a big company, it is easy to get good products from other big companies and
farmers at reasonable prices. In addition, they are very good at maintaining
relationship with their suppliers. Whenever the problems happen between any of
their suppliers, they try to find and solve them as quick as possible in order not to
spread bad rumors that can ruin their reputations.
They can produce clean water by themselves after showing the waste system but
they said it is cheaper to get water from their suppliers. Therefore, how they
negotiate to gain loyalty from where they get ingredients are worth to learn and
study.

MSG and Aji-ngon are purchased by numerous consumers. In the future, the
company can find procedures to compete with Knorr, Nestle to gain bigger market
share in cooking ingredients markets
Threats
Other competitors may take over the market if Ajinomoto may not change or adapt
to the trends. Broth mix is highly competitive to MSG by Knorr, Nestle. Large
amount of Vietnamese people changes to use broth mix in their cooking habits

I believe in the future if the company can provide part time jobs to candidates,
apply more innovation, advertise more about the safety of using MSG to
customers, better profits will go to them
I have learnt some cultures, process, operation of a company, solutions with low
costs to apply for my future jobs
It is a great pleasure to visit one of long and successful factories in Vietnam. I have
received practical experiences to apply what I learnt in the book and class. I have
come up with practical questions to ask and valuable answers from the company
