1. About ARPIT
The Ministry of Human Resource Development has officially launched online Annual
Refresher Programme in Teaching (ARPIT) on 13th November, 2018, a major and unique
initiative of online professional development of 15 lakhs higher education faculty using the
MOOCs platform SWAYAM. For implementing ARPIT, 75 discipline-specific National
Resource Centres (NRCs) have been identified in the first phase and 48discipline-specific
National Resource Centres (NRCs) in the second phase, which are tasked to prepare online
training material with focus on latest developments in the discipline, new & emerging
trends, pedagogical improvements and methodologies for transacting revised curriculum.
ARPIT is an ongoing exercise so that every year NRCs will continuously develop new
refresher module in their earmarked discipline each year. The training materials will be
uploaded and made available through SWAYAM. NRC will publish the list of the faculty
who have been certified. The NRCs will revolutionize professional development of faculty
by catering to massive numbers by leveraging ICT and online technology platform of
SWAYAM.
UGC has notified equivalence of ARPIT as a refresher course for career advancement of
faculty (DO Letter No. F.2-16/2002(PS)Pt.fI.II dated 3rd December, 2018 )

2. ARPIT Examination

Please read this brochure carefully before registering for ARPIT Examination. The last
date for registration is 17th January 2020.

National Testing Agency (NTA) would be conducting the examination and certification
would be done through SWAYAM. Faculty with such certificates can use them for availing
the equivalence recognized by UGC, as a refresher course for their Career Advancement
Scheme. Non-Faculty Learners also would be given certificates from SWAYAM.

a) The examination for the ARPIT courses is scheduled to be held on 16.02.2020

(Sunday). It would be a Computer Based Test (objective multiple-choice test) of 3 hrs
duration of 100 questions of maximum 100 marks.

b) The examination of 48 ARPIT courses will be held on 16th February,2020 in two

slots/shifts as:

 c) The list of 48 ARPIT courses for which exam is going to be held have been divided
among two slots/shifts.

d) The slot wise examination schedule (list of courses) is available in Annexure 1.

Please note that the candidate will be able to appear in examination for only one course
in one slot. Once you select the course for exam and pay the fees (in case of non-faculty
learner) it cannot be changed.

In case candidate has enrolled for more than one ARPIT course and examinations of
the corresponding courses are falling in the same time slot, the candidate has to make
a choice carefully as to which course he/she would like to appear for examination in
that slot.

e) The learner who has enrolled in any of the 48 courses is eligible for appearing for the
examination of that course only.

f) The learner who successfully clear the examinations i.e. score 50% or more only will be
issued a certificate by SWAYAM which will be equivalent to UGC one refresher
course for career advancement scheme of faculty.

g) The examination will be held in 139 cities across the country. The state wise list of
centres (cities) is available at Annexure 2.

3. Fee Details

Faculty Learner: In case of faculty who are working in any of the Indian higher educational
institutions, there won’t be any examination fee. For this purpose, the faculty has to
produce relevant proof of being a faculty in form of Faculty ID Proof/ Appointment
Letter/Latest Pay slip/Promotion Order.

Non-Faculty Learner: The examination fee for non-faculty is Rs. 1000/- for general
candidates and Rs. 500/-for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Women/EWS with disability >=40%. The
proof / certificate of learner belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD/ EWS candidates with
disability >=40% would require to be uploaded at the time of registration and original needs
to be produced at the exam centre for verification.

Note: Due care should be taken in choosing the option of Faculty and Non-Faculty learner
while filling registration form otherwise certificate will not be issued.

Method of Deposit of Fee by Non-Faculty Learners

The Fee can be deposited in following mode:

(i) Debit Card/Credit Card
(ii) Net Banking

4. Procedure for exam registration

5. For students who want to appear in multiple exams

Please note that learner would be able to choose only one course in each slot i.e. learner
can appear for a maximum of two exams spread across two slots. Those learners who are
doing multiple courses should ensure that the courses that they are choosing for
examination are in different slots.

6. Last date for registration

The registrations for ARPIT examination will start on 18th December, 2019 and last date
for registration is 17th January, 2020.

7. Issue of Hall Ticket

The Hall ticket can be accessed on 29thJanuary, 2020 from the link - www.ntaarpit.nic.in

8. Result Declaration

The CBT results (without internal assessment) will be declared by NTA on 26th February,
2020.

9. Certification

Certification will be issued to all successful candidates based upon the grading system.
Obtaining E grade or below 50 % marks will be considered as failure. The scheme of
grading is as follows-
i. Marks obtained equals to < 50 = E
ii. Marks obtained in the range of 50-59 = D
iii. Marks obtained in the range of 60-69 = C
iv. Marks obtained in the range of 70-79 = B
v. Marks obtained >80 = A

12. Important Instructions

i. Candidates can apply for ARPIT “Online” only. No offline application will be
entertained
ii. National Testing Agency (NTA) is entrusted to conduct the exam in a proctored
environment.
iii. The exam would be entirely computer-based test (CBT) of 3 hours duration. The
question paper will consist of only MCQs.
iv. The paper would be of 100 questions of maximum 100 marks and with no negative
marking.
v. Final result will be prepared based on the weightage to both external and internal
assessment in the ratio of 70: 30 shall be declared by SWAYAM-AICTE.
vi. Online submission of ARPIT Registration form may be submitted by accessing link
https://ntaarpit.nic.in/Candidates must follow the instructions strictly as given in the
Information Bulletin and on NTA website. Candidates not complying with the
instructions shall be disqualified.
vii. Proof of identity like Faculty ID Proof/ Appointment Letter/Latest Pay slip/Promotion
Order issued by the University/ Institution will be uploaded while doing the online
registration Examination Form of ARPIT. Similarly Non-faculty Learner belonging to
SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ PWD candidates with disability >=40% would be required to
upload proof / certificate at the time of registration and original needs to be produced
at the exam centre for verification
viii. Candidates must retain the following documents with them as reference for future
correspondence
a) A printout of the Confirmation Page of online Application.
b) At least 2 copies of identical passport size Photograph that was scanned and
uploaded on the Online Application.
c) Identity Proof
(i) In case of Faculty learner: Faculty ID Proof/ Appointment
Letter/Latest Pay slip/Promotion Order

 (ii) In case of Non-Faculty learner: Proof /Certificate of learner
belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ EWS/ PWD candidates with disability
>=40%
ix. Candidates must ensure that mobile numbers, e-mail ID filled in online Application
form are their own. The NTA will make communication by SMS and/or e-mail on
given mobile number and e-mail ID respectively only.
x. The NTA will not be responsible for non-receipt of latest information due to wrong
mobile number, e-mail ID and correspondence address filled in the Online Application
Form.
xi. Ensure that correct data is submitted in online application. Candidates may ensure
clear and latest photograph and signature are uploaded in the Application Form on the
link - https://ntaarpit.nic.in/
xii. A candidate can visit ntaarpit.nic.in and view Application Form and can make
correction in the Application Form, if any on 21st -22nd January 2020
xiii. Eligibility of the candidate will be determined on the last date of submission of online
application form.
xiv. Candidate will have option of choosing four centers for examination. Allotment of
centre is made by Computer and there is no human intervention. In case of large
number of candidates selecting a particular city / center, he / she will be allotted next
preference.
xv. In case the number of learners in any given center is less than viable number of ten
candidates/learners, then he/she will be allocated another alternative exam centre.
xvi. After registration, any failure in taking the exam or for unsuccessful candidates would
lead the candidate to take up the exam in the re-appear examination to be held on 10th
May, 2020 (tentative date).
xvii. Information Bulletin and FAQs related to the registration and examination process
will be hosted on the website on 12.12.2019.
xviii. Particulars filled in application form may be chosen carefully as options once
exercised cannot be changed later including the choice of city of examination centre.
xix. The candidates can download Admit Card for the Examination from the link or
website ntaarpit.nic.in or on after 29thJanuary 2020
xx. The candidates can download the Result from the link https://ntaarpit.nic.in/
xxi. The candidates can download the Certificate from the link –https://swayam.gov.in/.
