A Virginia native, Marques L. A. Garrett is an Assistant Professor of Music in


Choral Activities at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the Glenn Korff School
of Music. He earned his PhD in Music Education (Choral Conducting) at Florida
State University.
In addition to his performances as a baritone and countertenor soloist, Dr. Garrett
has served as a conductor or clinician with several church, community, collegiate,
and festival choirs throughout the country. His compositions are published with
GIA, G. Schirmer, Hinshaw, Walton, Santa Barbara, and others with several
recordings of his music to date. Recent commissions and premieres include the
University of New Hampshire, Seraphic Fire, Westminster Choir College, and the
American Choral Directors Association.
