WHY TO STUDY IN AUSTRALIA?

AUSTRALIA is currently the third popular destination for international students

because of its cultural diversity, friendly natives and high quality education. Students
and employers all over the world recognise degrees from Australia due to its
impressive reputation as a high quality education system. Adelaide being the South
Australia’s cosmopolitan coastal capital and renowned for museums and the high
standard of living at a very affordable cost made it my number one choice for pursuing
higher education. Australia has very good international recognition of an academic
excellence after the USA and UK as well as the best education system of the world.
Living expenses and tuition costs in Australia are considerably lesser than the USA and
UK. Many international students are choosing to study in Australia because of its
friendly, laid - back nature, excellent education system and high standard of living.
Educational institutions in Australia offer a wide variety of courses and degrees, so
international students can easily find the school and field that are right for them.
Australia is a safe, friendly, sophisticated and harmonious society in which students can
learn and travel. People from almost every aspect of world reside here; students can be
a part of multicultural environment and cultural studies.

My Childhood friend Mr. Praduman Kushwaha recommended me the UNISA

University.

Residing at 83 Ashley Street, Torrensville, Adelaide i will be staying with him. It would
cost me approximately AU$200 per week for my living expenses. Her residence is
around 20 km consuming 60 minutes to reach the campus. I will use the public
transport such as the trams or local buses which will cost me around AU$40-AU$50
weekly.

It was only her positive feedback that I made my mind to study in Australia.

WHY VICTORIA UNIVERSITY?

After searching for various universities on the internet for my desired program namely,
Bachelor of Nursing, I found that only few institutions offered this program. Those
educational institutions are the The University of Adelaide, Flinders University, Tafe
SA, Think Education Group, EQUALS International, 4 Life College , University of South
Australia (UniSA) etc.

I opted for UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA (UniSA) as I was much impressed

by its various factors .UniSA offers one of the largest nursing programs in the
Australia and UniSA is ranked 25th in the QS world’s top 50 under 50 universities and
is 3 in THE Young Univesity Rankings. This program is priced between $AUD15, 200
to $AUD16, 400 per study period which is very reasonable when compared to other
universities. Another impressive factor is the location of the campus is City East,
Adelaide the cost of living is cheaper than while that quality of education and lifestyle
is very high . Since, UniSA is one of the best universities for nursing in South of
Australia, it was the ideal choice for me. UniSA has a strong and growing community
of international students. It has a highly qualified faculty, impressive technology and
research resources. While studying here I will get a chance to carry out research projects
using both qualitative and quantitative techniques. And this is the only discipline in the
faculty that teaches these mixed methods. UniSA graduates have been given a 5-star
rating for teaching quality .This rating has been achieved for years in a row. Not only
this, UniSA has achieved one of the state’s highest honours for excellence in
international education, following the overwhelmingly success of its revolutionary first
year model. UniSA is based in Adelaide, Australia‘s vibrant, sophisticated and safe city
that‘s rated as one of the liveable city. Perhaps when a person is interested in what does
interest intensifies a person will always feel motivated to have an enriching experience.
From my early days I had a fascination towards HEALTH AND SCIENCE as this
technology is predicted to grow day by day which eventually becomes my field of
interest. This course is huge demanding in my home country .India is a developing
country and health sector is developed day by day , new plans, new generation and
advance technology are always demanding worldwide so here is lots of jobs
opportunities in my home country .

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) also known in some countries as a

Bachelor of Nursing(BN) or Bachelor of Science (BS) with a major in nursing is an
academic degree in the science and principles of nursing , granted by the accredited
tertiary education provider. BSN programs typically lasts 3-4 years. The Bachelor‘s
degree prepares nurse for the wide variety of personal roles and graduate study.
Course work includes nursing science, research leadership and related areas that
inform the practice of nursing .It also provides the student with general education in
maths, humanities and social sciences. An undergraduate affords opportunities for
greater career advancement and higher salaries options. It is often a prerequisite for
teaching, administrative, consulting and research role. Recent changes in the scope of
nursing practices have many hospitals looking to select only BSN-Trained nurses and
are requiring current AD nurses to further their education to acquire the BSN degree.

Magnet hospitals typically employ greater numbers of BSN –prepared nurses and
currently require that all nurses managers and nurse leaders hold degrees at the BSN
level or higher “ in 2011 The Institute of Medicine ‘s report recommended that by
2020,80 percent of RNs holds a bachelor of nursing (BSN) degree. This was also noted
in a report titled Institute of Medicine’s report on the future of nursing and has been
followed by the campaign to implement its recommendation. In this report second
recommendation was made to focus on increasing the proportion of registered nurses
(RNs ) with the baccalaureate degree to 80%by 2020. This course has a huge scope as
today there is still a shortage of nurses due to the fact that current nurses census is
made up of more than 50% of nurses above the age of 55 years old and upon retiring
will create the huge deficit, there is still the aim to promote the higher level educated
nurses at the entry level in one’s nursing career.

I will be studying the following subjects: Workplace communication, Introductory

Computing, Communication skills, Health Science, Project Management,
Introductory Chemistry and Introductory Mathematics and an optional elective. My
selected course is relevant with my previous studies as I have done my senior
secondary in medical stream and now I want to excel and enhance my skills by working
in hospital as a health officer, nurse etc. This will help me get honourable and respected
job in my home country in the renowned hospitalswith high salary package.

WHY TO PREFER AUSTRALIA OVER INDIA ?

Australia has some of the best cities of the world for international students providing
the optimum habitat which is crucial for a young mind to not only for learning but also
for the wide spectrum of extracurricular activities for relaxation and social growth. It is
well supported from the fact that one out of every three students in Australian
Universities is international particularly from India. If one takes a glimpse clarifying the
understanding of what makes Indian students to choose Australia for higher education.
The swiftness in adapting to Australian cities climate, heterogeneous culture, ethnicity
and standard of living makes Indians students to think of this country as a perfect
liveable option for the higher studies. Even though the cost of living in Australia is
almost 227% higher than India, the country of Australia offers cheap as well as high
ends costs of living suitable for choice of Indian students. With increasing edge over
scientific and technological innovation resulting from result oriented academic system,
Australia has world’s leading higher education institutions and universities that offer
best academics. Australian degree is highly recognised by the employers all over the
world as it provides the world class education to the students. In order not to
compromise with the quality of education and the bright future, I challenged myself to
study abroad. Well looking into pursuing my studies in India will have very low rate in
educational institutes as per the standards of the graduation have a very less chance of
getting quality education. A degree from top rated foreign university will fetch me elite
education and enhance my excellence.
FUTURE PLANS

After the successful completion of my BACHELOR DEGREE I plan to return to India

as I am attached to my family .After the completion of my course I intend to attain an
international experience by working in Australia during my Post Study Work Visa
under visa subclass 485. My only purpose of visiting Australia is to attain an
International degree, exposure and experience. After acquiring international degree
which is highly recognized worldwide, my future will be brighter. Education is
considered as a good investment for a person future. What a person invests in his /her
education comes back. This degree will lead to a bright future. There will be abundance
of job opportunities available in India.

On my return to India I will look for the employment in Apollo Munich, Apollo
HOSPITALS Enterprise Limited, Wockhardt Limited, Cipla etc. I am confident from
UNIVERSITY of SOUTH AUSTRALIA which backed me with relevant international
experience , will easily place me as a nurse and will get jobs in private and government
run hospitals , Nursing homes , orphanages ,old age homes , industries , Sanatoriums
and the Armed forces . I can also seek employment in the Indian Red Cross Society,
Indian Nursing Council, State Nursing Councils and various other nursing institutions.
As a nurse I can also take up administrative and teaching positions in medical colleges
and nursing schools. I can work as a Clinical Trial Assistant , Clinical Research

INCOME OF SPONSORS

I understand the funds requirements for Australian (SSVF) policy; we have sufficient
funds in the saving and have good annual income. My parents are sponsoring me. He
runs his own business at Rudrapur , Udham Singh Nagar and he is having annual
income of Rs5,55,000approximately and have fixed deposit of Rs28,00,000 in different
banks in India. My step mother is also working as self employed woman in handicraft
and have annual salary of Rs4,81,000. My sponsors have sufficient funds to take care of
my tuition fees and other expenses in Australia.

STUDENT VISA CONDITIONS

I have overseas health cover done. I am very much aware for the requirements for the
SIMPLIFIED STUDENT VISA FRAMEWORK(SSVF)for single student visa (subclass
500)which came into effect from 19 February 2019. They are:

*I have to attend college regularly for maintaining 80% attendance.

*I cannot work for more than 40 hours per fortnight.

*I have to secure minimum 50% pass marks.

* I cannot change the university before 6 months.

* I have to maintain a valid health insurance for the full duration of my student visa.

*I have to inform my university and DIBP about any change of address and contact
details within 7 days.

This initiative and the new step taken by the Australian Government is very beneficial
scheme for the genuine prospective of the students like me and will expedite visa
processing so that such students may be able to attend their courses on time . I feel that
Australia and specifically the UniSA , ADELAIDE will be great place to study and
provide me with a chance to broaden my horizons .

I sincerely hope that I will be bestowed a chance to study in Australia. I therefore

declare to you that I am honest, dedicated and ambitious student seeking a temporary
stay in Australia for gaining better and quality education until the completion of my
course.

Finally I take this opportunity to thank you for enabling me to express myself.

Kind Regards,

Saurabh Verma
