Dear students,

Seasons’ greetings to all of you!

We are sure that you are enjoying your MBA program @ Chitkara Business
School. You are approaching your one-month Winter Internship as a part of
your Trimester II. The purpose of this internship is to expose you to working of
small & medium enterprises/ non-government & non- profit organizations.

We expect you to observe their functioning, identify a problem and suggest a


solution to them with in the duration of one month. We are sure that you will
find it interesting and exciting while learning how small businesses are
functioning on the ground.

Remember: - It’s a part of your MBA curriculum. Try to apply everything that
you have learnt in the classrooms so far so and take perspectives that help you
gaining more when you rejoin us in Jan 2020 (Trimester III).

Winter Internship Report Guidelines for
MBA Batch 2019-21
(1 November 2019- 30 December 2019)

Confirmation of SME/NGO for Internship – 30 November 2019


Internship starts:: 1 December 2019
Mid Review:: 15 December 2019
Final Submission:: 7 Jan 2020
Internship Viva:: 8-11 Jan 2020

Applicable to all specializations


Marketing/Finance & Banking/FMP/ Logistics & SCM/HR/Analytics/General Management
Number of Credits – 8, Min. number of hours- 144

Instructions for the Students

1. The students are required to select any one of the following for in which they will
undergo internship for 4 weeks to their respective Faculty Mentors.

(a) SME (Small or Medium Enterprise) or


(b) NGO (Non Government Organization) or
(c) Not for Profit Organization

You may also choose a start up organization registered not before 2015
A tentative list of types of enterprises, which you may choose, is given below. Each student is
advised to be in touch with his/her advisor regularly.

2. Internship carries 8 credits and it is expected that all the students will do full justice to
the assignment. Having undertaken a good project/assignment during internship also
facilitates placement after completion of MBA Degree.

3. The minimum tenure of the internship is 4 weeks for all students. Students are strongly
advised to adhere to this period.

4. Your report will be in two parts


a. Part – I (Introduction to Business/Organization & Environment)
b. Part – II (Identify a Problem in the organization, Do Research, Suggest a
Solution)

5. Whom you may target

Following is the tentative list of type of organizations, enterprises or companies you may
approach for your internship

1. Charitable Trust, Co-operative Society, or Not for Profit Company


(Registered under section 8 of Companies Act)
2. Local Manufacturing units
3. Franchise of Big brands
4. Direct Selling Associates or Distributors
5. Retail showrooms
6. Brokers

6. Please contact your Faculty Mentor allotted for the project. Please speak to your Class
Mentor in case you need some help.

Students are required to study the functioning, operations and identify a problem area for
deeper analysis and find research-based solutions/suggestions for improvement.

13. General Guidelines


The report should be STRICTLY IN THE FORMAT prescribed to all the students.

While preparing the report, please keep the following points in view:

• This is just to give you an idea. Total length of the report can be between 60-80
pages. The same has to be finalized in consultation with faculty mentor and
Industry expert.

• It has to be computer typed, Times New Roman, Font size 12 for main text in body,
Times New Roman, Font size 14 (Bold) for headings, 1.5 line spacing

• Left margin = 1.5” (wider for binding), Top, right & bottom margins = 1”

• Project report should contain page numbers (1, 2, 3….) starting from Introduction
chapter. Preliminary pages should be numbered: i., ii., iii, iv, v, vi etc. Page number
should be placed at bottom, center of the page

• It should be supported by numbered visuals / charts / pie charts wherever possible.


(Avoid overuse of images from internet especially in company Introduction)

• One soft copy of report in CD and two hard copies (one for library and one for
faculty mentor) with Brown Leather jacket and wording in golden letters to be
submitted to your allotted Faculty Mentor in department preferably on the
day of rejoining campus. One spiral bound report to be retained by the student.

14. The performance will be evaluated on the following grounds:

Mode of Evaluation:

1. Faculty Mentor will score you out of 50 (Internal)


2. External Evaluator will evaluate you out of 50 (External)

Please note that any sort of copying (from internet/existing report/other students) is highly
objectionable and unethical. Therefore, students are strongly advised to refrain from this
practice. Or else they shall lose the credits and the same may affect award of degree. The
project report submitted without the signature of advisor or after the due date will not be
accepted.

(iii) Journal Articles


Publications that are published regularly with the same title and often avolume and/or part
number are usually known as serials. These couldinclude publications published annually,
quarterly (4 times per year),bimonthly (every 2 months), monthly, weekly or daily.

Popular serials e.g. Business World, are usually called magazines but moreacademic
publications are often known as journals.

The reference from journal should be laid out like this:
