I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature and other text
types serve as means of enhancing the self; also how to use processing, assessing,
summarizing information, word derivation and formation strategies, appropriate word
order, punctuation marks and interjections to enable him/her to participate actively in a
speech choir.
B. Performance Standard The learner actively participates in a speech choir through using effective verbal and non-
verbal strategies based on the following criteria: Focus, Voice, Delivery, Facial
Expressions, Body Movements/ Gestures and Audience Contact.
C. Learning Competency EN9-Ib-1.6/1.7: Use appropriate punctuation marks and
capitalization to convey meaning
Objectives 1. Familiarize oneself on the rules of capitalization
2. Identify the words that need capitalization in given passages
3. Rewrite sentences with necessary capitalizations
4. Actively engage in the oral and written drills on capitalization

IV. PROCEDURE
A. Reviewing previous lesson or SPELLING BEE
presenting the new lesson The Teacher will start their lesson with spelling bee followed by the review of last
week’s lesson and introduction of new topic. (5 mins.)
B. Establishing a purpose for the TASK 1: REVIEW ON NOUNS
lesson List down ten (10) nouns in your notebook. Five (5) are common
nouns and the other five (5) are proper nouns.
What‘s the major difference in how they are written?
Are you familiar of other rules in which it is necessary to write first
letter of words in uppercase?
C. Presenting examples/Instances of This time, try giving a proper noun and common noun equivalents
the new lesson to these pictures.
