Introduction

The Indian textile industry is one of the largest in the world with a massive raw
material and textiles manufacturing base. Our economy is largely dependent on the
textile manufacturing and trade in addition to other major industries. About 27% of
the foreign exchange earnings are on account of export of textiles and clothing
alone. The textiles and clothing sector contributes about 14% to the industrial
production and 3% to the gross domestic product of the country. Around 8% of the
total excise revenue collection is contributed by the textile industry. So much so,
the textile industry accounts for as large as 21% of the total employment generated
in the economy. Around 35 million people are directly employed in the textile
manufacturing activities. Indirect employment including the manpower engaged in
agricultural based raw-material production like cotton and related trade and
handling could be stated to be around another 60 million.

Stock Control
A store makes available to customers the entire product range of garments and
accesso1ries. These provide customers a unique and leisurely shopping experience while
also presenting them a new look to suit every new occasion-be it formal, casual, outdoor,
travel, or occasion wear. It is Family store, being integrated suppliers of fabrics as well as
garments, also offer their customer total textile solutions. The stock consists of fabric,
readymade garments includes (trousers, shirts, jeans, Sarees, ladies top, chodidhar,
western outfit suits, blazers) and other accessories of complete family. This is basically a
complete family store.

They sell the quantity related to particular season in each and every month ex- on
marriage, festival season, if they sell around 1.5 CR in financial year (12 months). On an
average they have to sell around 30 lakhs/month. But cannot expect same in each month
sometimes in marriage season it differs and in festival season, it will be high. During these
5 months of marriage season (May, June, Nov, Dec, Jan) they sell better i.e.around 90% of
sales happewhen compare to 80% sales happens in other 7 months. If u break up the
sales on a average for calculation purpose around 30 lakhs/month so around 3 to 4 months
of stock is ideal in any store. April, may, June, July is almost coming to around 1 CR. 1
CR stock should be there in at the start of their April month. Then, only they will able to
sell the products. Bases on proportionate ratio of the fabric, readymade garments and
accessories. If they keep around 1 CR. stock in any given time around 50 to 55% will be
fabrics and 40% readymade garments and around 5% will be accessories. Fabric gives a
better fit to customers.
