Part - A
Max.Marks:20
ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS.
1. Check whether the given system is stable or unstable? y(n)= ncosx(n) .
2. Determine the convolution sum of the two sequences. x(n)={4,3,2,1}, h(n)={1,2,1,2}.
3. Compare the radix-2 DIT-FFT and DIF-FFT?
4. What is the relation between discrete-time Fourier transform and Z -Transform?
5. What is meant by pre warping?
6. What are the advantages of multirate digital signal processing?
7. Compute the 4-point DFT of the sequence x(n)={1, -3, 2, -1}
8. Calculate no. of complex additions and multiplications in 256-point DFT using FFT?
9. Explain the Gibb’s phenomenon?
10. Find the Z- Transform of the sequence. x(n)= {1, 2, -3, 0, 4, 2, 1, 2, 5}.

Part – B

ANSWER ANY FIVE QUESTIONS. EACH QUESTION CARRIES 10 MARKS.
1. Determine whether the following systems are (i) linear/non linear (ii) time Variant/time invariant?
(a) y(n)= n2x(n) (b) y(n)= x(n) x(n-2).

2. (a) List the properties of DFT and prove any 3 properties of DFT. [6M]
(b) x(n)={1, 2, 3, 4} & h(n)={1, 2, 2, 1}. Find y(n) by using circular convolution. [4M]

3. (a) Find 4-point DFT of a sequence x(n)={2,2,1,1} using DIF-FFT algorithm. [4M]
(b) Explain Radix-2 DIT-FFT algorithm. [6M]

4. (a) Find the inverse Z-Transform of X(Z)= Z-1 /(3–4Z-1 +Z-2) ROC: │Z│ > 1
(b) Obtain the direct form-II of the following system
y(n)= –3/8 y(n-1) +3/32 y(n-2) + 1/64 y(n-3)+ x(n) + 3x(n-1) + 2x(n-2)?

5 (a) Compare the Butterworth and Chebyshev filters.


(b) Apply the Bilinear transformation to Hd(s)= 4/(s+3)(s+4), with T= 0.5 sec. Find H(Z).

6. Design a high filter using Hamming window, with a cut off frequency of 1.2 rad/sec and N=9.

7 (a) Discuss sampling rate convertion by the factor I/D with the help of neat diagram.
(b) What are Multirate systems? Discuss their importance in real time processing of signals.

8 (a) Find the Impulse response for the following system


y(n) – 3/4 y(n-1) + 1/8 y(n-2) = x(n) + 1/3 x(n-1).
(b) Compare IIR and FIR filters.
