SONG – Revolting Children

Miss Honey
You have all brought your own pencils, I hope.

ALL
Yes, Miss Honey.

Miss Honey
Good. Now this is the very first day of school for each one of you. As
you know, your Headmistress is Miss Trunchbull. Let me tell you
something about her. She insists upon strict discipline throughout the
school. Never argue with her. Never answer back. Always do as she
says. Do you understand?

ALL
Yes, Miss Honey.

Amanda
Have you met the Trunchbull yet, Matilda?

Matilda
I’ve seen her but I haven’t met her yet

Amanda
You’re in for a treat. She loathes the bottom class.

Lavender
She thinks we are all grubs that haven’t hatched out yet!

Hortensia
She hates children!

Lilly
If I was you, I would just stay well out of her way Matilda.
Bruce
Children have been known to be carried out on stretchers. Screaming.
Loudly. Like, really loudly.

Hortensia
OK Bruce, I think that’s enough, we don’t want to scare her off.

Lilly
Bruce!

Matilda
Oh, don’t worry about me. I have seen worse I am sure.

Lavender
(under her breath) oh I’m not too sure…

Miss Honey
Let us now move onto spelling. Now, Lavender can you try and read this
sentence please?

Lavender
The first word is I.

Miss Honey
Great Lavender, a good start. Can you Amanda?

Amanda
That’s too hard

Miss Honey
Hortensia?

Hortensia
Oh erm, give me a second. Erm, im not sure, just wait a second. (waits)
No sorry its gone.

Miss Honey
Lilly?

Lilly
Sorry Miss Honey. No.
Miss Honey
Bruce?

Bruce
Ermmmmmmm…..I don’t know?

Matilda
I can try Miss Honey. I can read most things. Limericks are my favorite

Miss Honey
Matilda, that is just wonderful. (Miss Honey suddenly remembers) Class,
I have some important news. It is customary that the headmistress is to
take over the class for one period each week. Today is our turn, Miss
Trunchbull will be with us soon.
