The teacher teaches the students two letters in a week and this called a
Synthetic phonics approach. The synthetic phonics approach is a way of
teaching reading. Students will be learning how to the connection between
letters and sounds and breaking down or decoding words, for example,
students have "Map" words, so they are decoding this word to (M-a-p).
The teacher focus with the letter "M" because it is a new letter for the
children to learn.
4. Were the learners engaged in the phonics lesson? If they were, select (a);
if they were not, select (b).
The teacher put some cards with the letters M and some cards with
the letter N on the whiteboard and then she chooses two students to
play the game. The teacher gives each student a stick and asks them
if any of these students answer right when I ask you, I gave her/his
one point. For example, she chooses Reem and Salem. She asks
them I want the word Nut, then Reem put the stick in the Nut word
so she is having one point and so on. This way helps the students to
understand the lesson.
This game includes in the lesson about how can know the difference
between letters N and M. This game is worked well with the
students.
