MATHEMATICS HELPS ORGANIZE PATTERNS AND REGULARITIES IN THE WORLD.
“Mathematics, the science of structure, order, and relation that has evolved from
elemental practices of counting, measuring, and describing the shapes of objects. It deals with
logical reasoning and quantitative calculation, and its development has involved an increasing
degree of idealization and abstraction of its subject matter. Since the 17th century,
mathematics has been an indispensable adjunct to the physical sciences and technology, and
in more recent times it has assumed a similar role in the quantitative aspects of the life
sciences.”
As we look around our surroundings, we can see different patterns- consciously or
unconsciously. Patterns in nature are visible regularities of form found in the natural world.
These patterns recur in different contexts and can sometimes be modelled mathematically.
Strolling around a park, we are unaware that the things that made us amazed are relating to
Mathematics and uses Mathematics. There are several beautiful phenomena observable in the
natural realm around us that can be described in mathematical terms. Some of these are
rainbow, cloud formations, tree and leaf branching, mud crack patterns, leopard spots, and
tiger stripes. These things mentioned have Mathematics in them. Through Math, these things
were deeply examined and were expressed in quantitative information more than a qualitative
one. Two of the most widespread phenomena that occur in the realm of nature are the
scattering of light and wave motion. Both may occur almost anywhere given the right
circumstances, and both may be described in mathematical terms at varying levels of
complexity. Let's take for example a rainbow. It's composed of colors with acronym
“ROYGBIV” . Different colors has different frequencies of waves. The structure of the
rainbow comes from the scattering of light. Like the scattering of light, wave motion is
everywhere, though we cannot always see it directly. Waves on the surface of puddles, ponds,
lakes, or oceans are governed by mathematical relationships between their speed, their
wavelength, and the depth of the water. The wakes produced by ships or ducks generate
strikingly similar patterns relative to their size; again, this correspondence is described by
mathematical expressions of the physical laws that govern the motion. Aside from these two,
there are many more things or events around our lives that deals with Mathematics.
Everyday life is full of opportunities and trials that we may encounter as we face each
day. As the day passes by, there are many activities we do to become more productive. In an
instance we have lots of technique on spending our money and time to survive. Talking about
numbers and other matter which is connected to the world of Math, Do we have the same
questions that will pop up into our minds like “How Math affects the world or Is Math really
important that we need to study? And why most of the people hate Math?”
When we highlight Mathematics in the things we do each day, we can really
show that Math is vital in our daily undertakings. Mathematics has been a part of life since
life began. Although not all is useful in everyday life but there are still an indefinite purpose
which is being practical and informative. It is often regarded as the science of pattern wherein
we should follow rules or the so called step by step process. There comes problem solving
that frequently needs some analyzation to make it into simpler version by using different
given formula. Look for some clues and use the process in solving it. Compare it to the real
world situation that we are experiencing right we really need this kind of mentality in solving
conflicts and also in finding the right solutions. Many are aware but there were also people
who are unaware how Mathematics affects our life; everything we do Math is always present
and we can’t deny the fact the general truth that Math is life.
