1 Instructions for new Windows 10 Desktop devices

Enrolling your devices into Microsoft Intune allows your Windows 10 devices to get access to your
organization’s secure data, including email, files, and other resources. This is true for both Windows 10
desktop and Windows 10 Mobile devices. Enrolling your devices helps secure this access for both you
and your organization and helps keep your work data separate from your personal data.

Following instructions are to be used for new computer enrollment or computers that have just gone
through the “Reset” process. The enrollment takes about 10 minutes or less. However full process when
You are fully set for work, all applications may take longer depending on your hardware performance
and network bandwidth.

1. It is recommended to connect the device to network with a cable (if possible).

2. Regional Settings:
2.1. Select your country;
2.2. Press Yes.

5. If ethernet connection with internet access is not detected, then Windows will ask to choose a Wi-Fi
connection or Cellular connection (if detected).

5.1. Please select your Wi-Fi and Connect.

5.2. When asked about “Do you want your PC to be discoverable...” you may answer Yes.

Note: Guest Wi-Fi doesn’t allow mapping/setting up the shared network drives so error messages about
drive share problems may appear during enrolment. We recommend using Ethernet cable/wired LAN
connection when possible. If this is not possible, enrolment may be done with Guest Wi-Fi ignoring the
error messages. A reboot is required after enrolment for office Wi-Fi to activate. When a connection to
office network (cable or WLAN-) is established mapping network drives is possible.

6. Accept the license agreement.

For multi-factor authentication (MFA) users: If the strong user identification has been enabled for your
user account, you will next see a screen asking about verification code sent to your mobile phone for
extra protection of your account login. Enter the verification code and press Next.

Windows Hello and fingerprint sign in: “Set up” or “Skip” according to your personal user preference. If
selected, the enrollment process asks you to next define a PIN code just in case you ever experience
problems with fingerprint login. Select Next and continue to Set up a PIN.

Login completes your Windows 10 computer enrollment to Azure AD and Intune management.

After you have logged into Windows, your workstation will start downloading software and encrypting
the drive with Bitlocker. The downloaded software will include Office 365 apps and other company
specific software. This process will take anywhere from an hour to three hours, depending on the size of
your hard drive and internet speed. Bitlocker encryption will take usually two hours for 256 GB hard
drive.

If you need to access your email or other apps before the installation completes, please login in to Office
365 (login.microsoftonline.com).

After successful enrollment Company Portal (Yritysportaali) application should appear in the Windows
Start Menu for optional software installation. Company portal should appear within 30 minutes of the
first login, if the enrollment was successful. The optional software can be installed as soon as Bitlocker
encryption is complete.

Final important notes:

 Change the Wi-Fi connection to use WLAN.
 Microsoft OneDrive is automatically configured to your user account during enrollment.
If you’ve already before used OneDrive and have several existing folders in cloud drive,
you will be asked about which ones of them you want to synchronize to be available
also offline (when starting OneDrive for the first time). When selecting the folders to be
synchronized, be aware of the folder size/drive space requirements! Some folders
might contain big amount of data that could make your local device hard disk run out
of space! Recommendation: Select the folders with awareness and leave the big folders
out of sync.
 Mapping the shared network drives: The shared network drive implementation is a bit
different in Win10 environment. An icon of network shares will appear on your desktop.
By clicking this icon and typing your login credentials when asked you will get access to
Drive letter S: that contains a list and description of shared network folders. You may
access your network resources according to your account access rights. If you can’t
access a network resource you should be able to OR a certain network resource is
missing from the list, please contact Helpdesk.
 A reboot of your PC is recommended soon after successful enrollment for some
necessary company policies to be correctly configured and delivered. If you
experience problems or missing features after enrollment, please reboot your PC before
contacting helpdesk. Thank you!
 Part of the enrollment process is Bitlocker encryption. Enrollment is not complete
before Bitlocker has encrypted the device, and because of that, application installation
from Company Portal is only possible after Bitlocker encryption is done. It usually
takes up to 2 hours for the default 256 GB hard drives.
