SITUATION:

There are many problems that concern the Philippine Public Administration so this

paper aims to discuss the problems which encompasses all the others. The problems

were trimmed down to corruption. In the Philippines it is also commonly associated in

almost all branches of governmental offices nationally.

PROBLEM:

The term corruption is define by the Merriam Webster Dictionary as a dishonest

or illegal behavior especially by powerful people (such as government officials or police

officers), it is also the act of corrupting someone or something. Surprisingly, even the

dictionaries prove how deeply-embedded corruption is in the different cultures and how

the people perceive what corruption is.

According to Investopedia, “Corruption can include giving or accepting bribes or

inappropriate gifts, double dealing, under-the-table transactions, manipulating elections,

diverting funds, laundering money and defrauding investors. One example of corruption

in the world of finance would be an investment manager who is actually running a ponzi

scheme.” Investopedia US (2014) Corruption is the most non-tolerable type of

administrative problem as it involves unethical usage of public funds for private purposes.

SOLUTION:

Since in the beginning of the Philippine government corruption is playing a vital

role in weakening the Philippine economy. We can say that it is already been part of the

country’s culture, and it is also recognizable that there are some factors that keeping
corruption operational in most part of the country’s bureaucratic system. There are a lot

of proposition to eliminate or at least to lessen the rampant corruption In the country such

as the need of improving the ‘informational system’ in governmental offices. Batalla

(2000) with the help of modern-day technologies such as interconnected network or the

internet, that in just a click of a finger a researcher can access an information that they

wanted. In this sense transparency can be operational and can be maximize efficiently by

creating an interactive social media platform or a website that any citizen can browse

easily attached with proper data.
