Modern Tool Usage

This document discusses modern tools used in automotive power plants. It describes Minitab for statistical analysis and graphing of data, Thermo-Calc for thermodynamic calculations based on materials databases, MATLAB for matrix manipulations, plotting, algorithms, and interfacing with other programs. It also mentions MS Excel which can perform statistical, engineering and financial functions, display data visually, and allows programming through Visual Basic for Applications. These tools help analyze engine performance, thermodynamics, and other automotive power plant processes.

AUOTOMOTIVE POWER PLANT (AU-201)

In Automotive Power Plant we learn about how engine generate energy The
purpose of internal combustion engines is the production of mechanical power
from the chemical energy contained in the fuel beside this Generators are often
used to supply backup power to facilities, businesses, or homes during power
outages but they can also be used as a primary power source etc.

MODERN TOOL USAGE

 Minitab
Minitab automates calculations and the creation of graphs, allowing the user to
focus more on the analysis of data and the interpretation of results. It is
compatible with other Minitab, LLC software
 THERMO-CALC
All calculations are based on thermodynamic data which is supplied in a
database. There exists a wide selection of high-quality databases for various
purposes that include many different materials.
 MATLAB
MATLAB (matrix laboratory) is a multi-paradigm numerical
computing environment and proprietary programming language developed
by MathWorks. MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting
of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces,
and interfacing with programs written in other languages.

computing abilities. An additional package, Simulink, adds graphical multi-
domain simulation and model-based design for dynamic and embedded systems.

 MS EXCEL

1
It has a battery of supplied functions to answer statistical, engineering and
financial needs. In addition, it can display data as line graphs, histograms and
charts, and with a very limited three-dimensional graphical display. It allows
sectioning of data to view its dependencies on various factors for different
perspectives (using pivot tables and the scenario manager). It has a programming
aspect, Visual Basic for Applications, allowing the user to employ a wide variety
of numerical methods, for example, for solving differential equations of
mathematical physics, and then reporting the results back to the spreadshee
