Results Practical 2

Mucor sp., Aspergillus sp., and Penicillium sp. were observed to have filamentous structures consisting of hyphae and reproductive structures such as sporangiophores, conidiophores, and conidia. Wild fungi were also observed but their specific structures were not documented. An experiment was conducted to count yeast cells under a light microscope using a haemocytometer. A total of 112 yeast cells were counted across 20 squares with an average of 5.6 cells per square. Based on these counts, the total number of yeast cells per mL was calculated to be 224. Additionally, 31 dead yeast cells were counted for an average of 1.55 dead cells per square,

EXPERIMENT 2.1

Sample Characteristic

Filamentous Structure:
Mucor sp. is a hyphal fungus body structure consists
of a fine thin thread like tubular branch colony mass
of mycelium. Unit structure of mycelium is hyphae.
A hypha is coenocytic.

Reproductive Structure:
It consist of sporangiophore containing
sporangiospores for both asexual and sexual
reproduction.
Mucor sp.

Filamentous Structure:
It consists of the following components in its cell
structure that include foot cell, conidiophore, vesicle,
conidia, mycelium and cytoplasm.

Reproductive Structure:
The heterothallic hyphae consist of female hyphae
that refer to Ascogonium and the male hyphae which
refer to Anthredium.
Aspergillus sp.

Filamentous Structure:
Species of Penicillium are recognized by their dense
brush-like spore-bearing structures called penicillin.
The conidiophores are simple or branched and are
terminated by clusters of flask-shaped phialides.

Reproductive Structure:
The asexual reproduction is by formation of non-
motile, asexual spores, the conidia, and produce at
the tip of special, erect, hyphae called conidiophores.
Penicillium sp.
Filamentous Structure:

Wild fungi
