General Instructions:

1. While writing solutions please try to provide step by step solutions being as elaborate
as possible so that anyone can understand the solution.
2. While creating questions, please make sure that you create questions from scratch and
write solutions as per above guidelines. Please find attached a file containing five
questions of logical reasoning. Study it well and write the detailed solution of each
question.
3. Subsequently, you have to create 1 original questions on each Circular Arrangement,
Ordering and Ranking, Blood Relation, Syllogism and Direction and Distance topic. at
the same level of difficulty. Provide options, answers and solutions for each question.
4. We are also attaching a sample solution for your reference so that you understand the
kind of explanation expected from you.

Logic Reasoning Question

1. Direction: Question below consists of two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to
decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question.
Read both the statements and give answer

How is S related to R?
I. R’s sister is the mother of N, who is daughter of S.
II. P is the sister of S.

(a) The data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II
alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
(b) The data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I
alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
(c) The data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
(d) The data in both the statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
(e) The data in both the statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.

Ans. (d) The data in both the statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.

Sol: Statement II gives us no relation between P and R, hence the relationship between S and R
cannot be determined using this statement alone. Statement I gives rise to a missing link in the
relationship tree as adequate information is not provided to establish the relationship between S and
R.
2. If ‘P $ Q’ means ‘P is brother of Q’, ‘P # Q’ means ‘P is mother of Q’ and ‘P * Q’ means ‘P is daughter
of Q’, then who is the father in ‘ A # B $ C * D ’ ?
(a) D (b) B
(c) C (d) Data inadequate (e) None of these

Ans. (a) D
Sol:

After decoding the symbols given in ‘A # B $ C * D’ using the information provided, we obtain the
following relationships:

A is the mother of B.
B is the brother of C.
D is the father of C.

So, A (wife) and D (husband) are spouses. B and C are the children of the couple A and D.

3. Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the question given below:

(i) Five courses A, B, C, D and E each of one month duration are to be taught from January to May one
after the other though not necessarily in the same order by lecturers P, Q, R, S and T.
(ii) ‘P’ teaches course ‘B’ but not in the month of April or May.
(iii) ‘Q’ teaches course ‘A’ in the month of March.
(iv) ‘R’ teaches in the month of January but does not teach course ‘C’ or ‘D’.

Which course is taught by ‘S’?

(a) C (b) E
(c) Either C or D (d) D (e) None of these

Ans. (c) Either C or D

Sol:
Simply writing down the information given down by the statements, we obtain:
Course A  Q, March
Course B  P, April, May
Course C  R, January
Course D  R, January
Course E  R, January

Now we are left with Lecturers S and T; months February, April and May; courses C and D and these
have to be mapped accordingly. P teaches in February. R will teach the course E.
Course A  Q , March
Course B  P, February , April , May
Course C  R, January
Course D  R, January
Course E  R, January

Lecturer S can teach any of the available course C or D, hence option (c).
4. Direction: In the question below are given four statements followed by four conclusions numbered I,
II, III & IV. You have to take the given statement to be true if they seem to be at variance from
commonly known facts. Read all the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions
logically follows from the given statements disregarding commonly known facts.

Statements:
Some pens are windows
All windows are roads
Some roads are cups
All cups are chins
Conclusions:
I. Some chins are pens
II. Some cups are pens
III. Some chins are windows
IV. Some roads are pens
(a) None follows
(b) Only II follows
(c) Only IV follows
(d) Only III and IV follow
(e) Only III follows

Ans. (c) Only IV follows.

Sol: We can visualize the given statements as follows. We see that only the statement
“Some roads are pens” follows.
5. Direction: A word and number arrangement machine when given an input line of words and
numbers rearranges them following a particular rule in each step. The following is in illustration of an
input and rearrangement.

Input : 17 put show on 39 27 85 gold

Step I : Show 17 put on 39 27 85 gold
Step II : Show 85 17 put on 39 27 gold
Step III : Show 85 put 17 on 39 27 gold
Step IV : Show 85 put 39 17 on 27 gold
Step V : Show 85 put 39 on 17 27 gold
Step VI : Show 85 put 39 on 27 17 gold
Step VII : Show 85 put 39 on 27 gold 17
and step VII is the last step of the rearrangement of the above input.

As per the rules followed in the above steps, find out in each of the following question the appropriate
step for the given input.

Input: glass full 15 37 water now 85 67

Which of the following will be step VI of the above input?

(a) Water 85 now 67 full glass 15 37

(b) Water 85 now 67 glass full 15 37
(c) Water 85 now 67 glass 37 full 15
(d) There will be no such step
(e) None of these

Ans: (d) There will be no such step.

Sol:

Input: glass full 15 37 water now 85 67

Step I: water glass full 15 37 now 85 67

Step II: water 85 glass full 15 37 now 67

Step III: water 85 now glass full 15 37 67

Step IV: water 85 now 67 glass full 15 37

Step V: water 85 now67 glass 37 full 15

We observe that step V is the last step and so, step VI is not possible.
