User's guide
Registration:
Having run the program you will see the main window with the main
menu and toolbar.
Each menu item and button will be discussed in further sections.
To register the program choose «Help - menu «Registration. You will
then see the «Registration» window with two textboxes.

The first textbox «Your key» is filled in automatically; the second box
«Enter password is empty.
Copy the first line (your registration key) and send it to the program
designer: [email protected] together with your personal data
(name and surname).

Upon receiving the registration message with your password enter it

into the second box push the “OK” button and quit the application.
Next time the program is started the registration process will be over
and “Registration” menu will disappear.
You can use the program without registration, but some of its features
will be unavailable (time-frames, scaling, printing, some functions).
If one day the configuration of your PC will be changed considerably,
you will have go through the registration process again.
The program can handle two data formats:
1. text format and 2. MetaStock format
Convert ASCII files:
Program may to open files in ASCII format: *.txt, *.asc, *.prn. It
opens Convert ASCII data window firstly:

In this window you may to set which string format you use in some or
other files.
If you store data in one format check the «Save options as default», so
you will start converting data without this window.
If program don’t converting data in default format, it opens convert
window again. You may to try change some formats and /or options.
String format may be:
DateOHLC
DateOHLCV
DateOHLCVOi
DateTimeOHLC
DateTimeOHLCV
DateTimeOHLCVOi
TickerDateOHLC
TickerDateOHLCV
TickerDateOHLCVOi
TickerDateTimeOHLC
TickerDateTimeOHLCV
TickerDateTimeOHLCVOi
TickerPerDateOHLC
TickerPerDateOHLCV
TickerPerDateOHLCVOi
TickerPerDateTimeOHLC
TickerPerDateTimeOHLCV
TickerPerDateTimeOHLCVOi
where:
Date – date’s fild (format this filed see near);
OHLC – fields Open, Height, Low, Close;
OHLCV – fields Open, Height, Low, Close, plus field Volume;
OHLCVOi – fields Open, Height, Low, Close, Volume, plus field
Open Int.;
Ticker – name of the financial instrument (this field is ignored by
program);
Per – time frame (this field is ignored by program);
Time – time (this field is ignored by program).

Field of the date may be:

YYYYMMDD
YYMMDD
DD.MM.YYYY
DD/MM/YYYY
MM.DD.YYYY
MM/DD/YYYY

Each field in one string separates from other field by “Separate sign”.
This may be:
Comma ‘,’
Dot ‘.’
Space ‘ ‘
Other sign, which you input in field.

Each field with decimal numbers contents “Decimal Separate Sign”

(these are OHLC and some time volume with 00 as decimal numbers).
You may to choose sign, this may be:
- Comma ‘,’
- Dot ‘.’

Some data’s format use descendent set of date (see example in the file
SPI.txt –Australian stock index). You may to set in which sequence are
these data:
- Ascending,
- Descending.

Next there is field with examples first data string from file. Push the
button Try, and you try to start converting these strings. In the field
«Start from string» you may to set from what string program start
converting. Because some files contents fields descriptions in first
string (not data). This string ignored by program.
If test converting is well down, you see table with converting data and
button Ok will be enabled. Otherwise table will be empty and button
Ok will be disabled. Change some format and / or options and try
again!
Button Cancel canceled converting process.

So this window including big sets of the ASCII - data format and
makes user’s work simplest. If you use other formats, and this format is
not in MGA program, send example this files plus short fields
description by program-designer’s e-mail, please.

1. Text files: The program deals with .txt, ASCII, .asc, .prn files of the
following formats:

If your prefer to create your price data arrays manually you can do it
using MS Word or Notepad editors and then save them under .txt or
.asc format.

MetaStock data can be converted to comply with the program in the

following way:
Use The DownLoader (supplied with the MetaStock www.equis.com),
open the window “Convert securities” (“Tools” menu, “Convert...”
option). In the Source (data source) group choose the MetaStock file
type (File type - > Metastock).
Use the Browse button to find the necessary MetaStock File and select
it.
In the Destinations group choose the ASCII text file type (File type - >
ASCII Text).
Find the text file you need (in case you want to refresh the data in an
existing file) clicking upon the Browse button and select it. In case you
want to create a new file, just type its name in the File name field.
Push the «Options» button to open the «Convert options» window. In
the «Destinations» frame check the «Create new file» box (create a
new file, if this is a new data source). Otherwise (in case the data file
already exists) you should uncheck the box; then switch to the «If file
exists» group and check the «Replace existing file» box in case you
want to convert all the data from the file. If you just want to refresh
(update) the price data of a security choose the «Append data to end of
file» option. In the «Fields to output» group check (Yes) or uncheck
(No) the following fields:
Symbol-No
Periodicity-No
Date-Yes
Time-No
Open-Yes
High-Yes
Low-Yes
Close-Yes
Volume-Yes
Open Interest-No

Press «OK» button in the «Convert options» dialog box and then the
same button in the «Convert securities» window.
When the conversion process is completed you will see the
«Conversion report» window. The “Status” group will contain a report
of successful file conversion and saving and there must also be a green
mark in the chosen directory against the selected file in the “Securities”
group. It will mean that the conversion has been successfully
performed – close the window by pressing the “Close” button and quit
The DownLoader.
Having taken the steps described above, you will get a MGA data file
of the following format:
DTYYYYMMDD,OPEN,HIGH,LOW,CLOSE,VOL
19970529,1.7860,1.8350,1.7860,1.7860,611300
You can either delete the first line (headers) or leave it as it is.
The program can handle the data sorted both ascending and
descending.

MetaStock format files

Starting from v.2.3. the program can handle MetaStock format files.
This feature will prove usefull for those who download trading data in
this format rather then .txt format.

MetaStock files can be both with the “Open interest” column and
without it. As a matter of fact, you can even remove this column from
your files by clicking upon the proper control in the open data file in
the DownLoader and confirm its removal by pressing “Yes” . However
the “Opening prices” column must necessarily be there!

As the program deals with EOD (End of Day) data, MetaStock files
with intraday data will be ignored (only the Daily data are viewable
within the MGA browser).

MetaTrader files:
Starting from version v.3, program may to open files in MetaTrader
format ( www.metaquotes.net ).

To open a chart based on MetaTrader's data - press the button on the

toolbar (or use the «Ctrl-T» keyboard shortcut). You will then see the
following window.
The default directory is that of your recent work (the program
“remembers” it when you quit the application). If for some reason this
doesn’t happen edit the MGA.ini setting the way you like it.
At the left top of the window there is a drive combobox and below it a
directory tree. By double-clicking on a given folder you will open its
contents and if there are MetaTrader files in it, they will be shown in
the listbox on the right.
Double click the selected file or single click it and press “Open”.
The system will then start loading the data from the selected file of
which you will be informed by a progress bar.
When all the data from the file are loaded into the program the “Tunes
of opening data” dialog box will be launched (see above).
This option is only available in the registered version.

The “File” menu entries support all sorts of operations on files and
active window (active chart). You can view several charts
simultaneously, but your personal settings (layout, analysis tools,
functions) can only be updated in the active chart (to enable fast work).

Down from the “Representation” option there is a field enabling you

to set the width of the bars.
The «Max of chart and «Min of chart optioins allow you to scale the
chart vertically enlarging / diminishing / changing one of these
parameters or both of them.
Use the «Look forvard option to set the number of bars to project
ahead (to forecast) after the latest price data for a given security.
Planetary lines and functions will be reconfigured to comply with this
parameter. It can be set to 0 (if you want to see only past and current
prices).
The «Show Axis X and «Show Axis Y enable you to switch the chart
grid-lines on and off.
Use the «Show Legend option to show / hide symbols and captions
against planetary lines and functions on the chart.
The «Show Volume option allows you to show / hide trading volume

and line width of the volume chart.
The «Price step option can be used to scale the chart manually (select
the «By hand option to set the price step you need) or to make it fit to
the active window («Auto – window option).
Planets Hierarchy
To configure the usage of the planetary lines select this menu or click

the button on the toolbar which will open the «Planets

Hierarchy» window.

This window contains a hierarchichal «tree» with the names of the

main planets listed at the first level.

The second level (click “+” to open) shows you the types of planetary
lines.
Price - is the branch of the “tree” used to create Planets price line
(PPL). PPL – is a line plotted based upon the planets’ relative positions
to prices.
Circles – is the “tree” branch enabling you to plot Planets circle lines
(PСL). PCL – is a (vertical) cylce line designed to search the given
position of a planet (for example, a vertical line will be drawn when the
Mars is at an angle of 15 degrees with any sign of the Zodiac).
The third level of the “tree” contains the type of the line to be drawn:
Geo – geo-centric coordinates of a planet,
Helio – helio-centric coordinates of a planet,
Declination – declination of a planet.

Right-clicking on the items of this window will open a context menu

(available for this window only) with the following options:
Tune configures the settings of the lines to be drawn,
Edit – opens a window to edit the lines (removed from this version),
Hide/Show – hide / show a line (lines),
Delete – remove a line (lines) from the chart.
N.B.: If you select “Delete” at the first level of the “tree” (e.g.
Venus ), i.e. at the level of a planet, all the lines linked to this planet
will be removed. Using the “Delete” option at the second level of the
tree (e.g. Venus-Price ) will delete all the planetary lines (in the geo-,
helio-centric coordingates and in declination), leaving the circle lines
intact. At the third level of the tree (e.g. Venus–Price-Geo ) “Delete”
will remove the lines of a planet in the geo-centric coordinates leaving
the lines in the helio-centric coordinates and in declination, as well as
the circle lines, intact.

PPL – Planetary Price Line

This is a kind of planetary lines transforming a planet’s position into a
price. It is a sor of price analysis from the point of view of planetary
positions.

Let us consider an example of building planetary line for the helio-

centric Venus (the method is the same for any planet and line of this
type).
Let us open the window Planets Hierarchy, select the Venus and the
Price branch and at last the Geo option.
Let us then right-click on the Geo to open the context menu and select
Tune (see the chart below) to switch the settings panel:
As we have right-clicked at the third level of the tree (Geo), the first
three parameters are already selected and cannot be changed (Venus,
Price, Geo-G). Let us then set the (Harmony) for the lines:
1 – draws a planetary line (conjunction),
2 – draws the 2nd Harmony (conjunction and opposition),
3 – draws the 3rd Harmony (conjunction, trigon),
4 – draws the 4th Harmony (conjunction, quadrature and opposition)
etc...
Mirror – sets a mirror reflection at a 0 degree of Aries (in this example
let us leave this box unchecked).

A context menu will set the price-degree transformation ratio. Each

security has its own optimal transformation ratio value which
corresponds to its price range (e.g. if the price range is from 500 to
900, the optimal value will most likely equal 1, for the price range of 2
to 10 – the ratio is 0.01 etc.) If you entered a wrong value by mistake,
select this Harmony in the tree and delete it (right-click and select
“Delete” in the context menu).

Our next step is setting the circles parameter – the number of complete
360 degrees cycles. As a planet’s position (angle) can vary within the
range of 0 to 360 degrees, transforming degrees into price units we get
the maximum value of 360 and to deal with prices higher than 360 we
have to add 1 circle, with those higher than 720 – 2 circles etc. We can
also set the lines width and color.

After setting all the parameters we press “Add” which will create a
new level in the planets tree (the harmony level for the planetary line
containing all of its aspects) and plot the planetary line (lines) on the
chart. It should be noted that the symbol against the level in the tree
means that the planetary line will be shown on the chart, the sign
means that the line will be hidden and if there is the sign, the line is
outside of the price range.

On the chart below you can see the planetary lines of Venus with the
following settings: 4th Harmony, price-degrees transformation ratio =1,
the number of full cycles = 2. The chart shows the 0 aspect (bold line),
-90, 90 and 180 degrees aspects; as for those of – 180, -270 and 270
degrees, they are out of the price range.

PСL – Planetary Circle Line.

Planetary Circle Lines are natural cyles based upon the calculation of
the movement of a planet. Underlining this analysis is the theory that
important price moves (reversal points) are influenced by certain
planetary phenomena (positions). The knowledge of this fact allows to
forecast the future date when the same phenomenon will take place
(that is to calculate the period of the cycle).
For example let us look at the position of the Mars on September 05,
2003 when the price of the “RAO EES” (The Unified Energy Systems
of Russia Inc.) stocks formed an important high at 10,648 roubles. If
we apply the cycle with the 2nd Harmony (i.e. taking into account the
current and the opposite (-180°) position of the Mars) we will see an
important high of October 20, 2003 at 10,187 roubles (the same
position of the Mars) and an important low of August 12, 2004 at 6,57
roubles (not far from the position of the Mars opposite to the starting
date – 09/05/2003).
For this we should do the following: 1) choose a planet (in our case the
Mars); 2) specify the type of the planetary as Circles; 3) select the geo-
or helio- coordinates or the declination of the planet (in our case we
have the the Mars in the geo coordinates).
After that we should right-click on the Geo symbol to open the context
menu and to select the “Tune” (“Configure”) entry. On the panel that
will appear on the right we should do the following: 1) Specify the
Harmony: 1 for the same position and 2 for the same and the opposite -
180° position, 3 – the same position and each 120° etc.) ; 2) set the
color and the width of the line ; 3) specify the key date.
Pushing «ADD» will plot the chosen planetary circle line in the chart.
The second way to build a planetary cycle is to look at the position of a
planet under given sign of the Zodiac.
For this we use the absolute value of the angle (0-360˚). For example,
to calculate the cycle of the Mars for its ingressions in any sign of the
Zodiac we should: 1) select a planet (the Mars); 2) specify the type of
line as Circles; 3) choose the geo- or helio-centric coordinate or the
declination of the planet (in our case it is Mars in the geo coordinates).
After that we should right-click on the Geo symbol to open a context
menu and select “Tune”. On the panel that will appear on the right let
us do the following: 1) Specify the Harmony: in our case – 12
(360/12=30 and 30˚ is the value of each sign of the Zodiac); 2) set the
color and the width of the line ; 3) select the bottom box of the panel
and set the value in degrees (in our case – 0).
Pushing «ADD» will plot the chosen planetary circle line in the chart.
Examples of the Planets Lines.

The daily chart of the RAO EES stocks with the Mercury Planetary
Line in the heliocentric coordinates. (H=1, Mirror=No, Step=0.01,
Circles=0,1,2).

The daily chart of the RAO EES stocks with the Mars Planetary Line
in the geocentric coordinates
(Harmony=4 – aspects 0, 90 180; Mirror=No; Step=0.01; Circles=1,2).
The results are rather impressing: low in January’ 2003 is on Mars line
(aspect 90) and top in September’ 2003 is on Mars line too (aspect 0)!
Work this Lines in next time? See next picture !!!
The daily chart of the RAO EES stocks with the Mars Planetary Line
in the geocentric coordinates
As you can see in previous picture – Mars Planetary Lines work in
2003 year very well… And on this picture is Mars Planetary Lines in
2003-2005 years. See how exactly works lower Mars line in 2003 and
2005 too!!! Stock founds on this line good support…

The daily chart of the Lukoil stocks with the Sun Planetary Line in the
Mirror - reflection of 0 degrees Aries. (H=8, Mirror=Yes, Step=1,
Circles=2). Red line – is the Circle Line of 45 trading days see
functions part further ! How exactly work this methods in common!
This example show as you may tune the chart’s options windows
background is black, bars color is yellow.
The daily chart of the Lukoil stocks with the Venus Planetary Circle
Line in declination (red line). Below the main chart there is also the
Venus the declination line itself (blue line). The parameter value is –
each 25 degrees (which usually corresponds to the maximum
declination of the Venus)

The daily chart of the GMK-NN (Norilsky Nikel) stocks with the
Venus Planetary Line in heliocentric coordinates. (Harmony=1 –
aspects 0; Mirror=No; Step=1; Circles=2,3,4,5,6).
The daily chart of the RAO EES stocks and Gann’s middle point line
(COE, the average of the 8 main planets) in the helio coordinates (H=1,
Mirror=No, Step=0.01, Circles=1,2).

This example show as you may create Sun Field (as write about it
Barbara Koval in book “Time & Money”)

To configure the planetary lines select this menu item or click the
button to open the “Tune of functions” menu.
This window represents a “tree” composed of three levels:
Gann Tools
Fibo
AstroTools
If you click the left mouse button on choosen level of the tree (on the
function), you will see on right side of the window the panel with
parameters of this function.

Gann Tools
Gann HiLo - High / Low activators
4 main parameters:
o Lock backward – – the “N” parameter setting the period (number of
bars) of the moving average (MA),
o Color
o Width
o Draw Next Time Frame Hi/Lo this option allows you to plot a HiLo
activator for a larger periodicity chart (e.g. if we are looking at a daily
chart, this function will draw the Gann HiLo line for weekly data).
o Support – Support line color,
o Resistense – Resistance line color,
o Lock backward – the “N” parameter setting the period (number of
bars) of the moving average (MA) – it can differ from the value of the
previous level Lock backward parameter for the main periodicity chart.
o Width .
This function allows to determine the begginning of a new trend
(optimal moments for trades), as well the levels of support / resistance.
You can find a more detailed description of the HiLo activator in
Robert Krause’s articles.

Circle lines (for any number of calendar/trade days, weeks, month …).

7 main parameters:
o Start data – the date opening a cycle (usually an important high or
low). You can type the date from the keyboard or find it in the calendar
with the mouse.
o Price Level – the level where a horizontal line can be drawn with a
given period of the cycle.
o Count of periods – the period of the cycle
o Time frame – time frame of the period of the cycle o On
bars/calendar day – trading days / calendar days – check this box to
calculate the cycle based upon trading days (bars), or leave it
unchecked for calendar days.
o Color .
o Width .

The function is designed to determine “time” resistance levels of a

security, i.e. the moments when a trend is most likely to reverse.
In the chart above you can see an example of a Circle line in two
different time frames (first – for a chart, and second – for a cycle).
Important top of the “LKOH” stocks was formed on October 06, 2004
at 967 roubles. We plotted a 26-weekly cycle (it cycle is ½ of the 52-
weekly cycle) on a daily chart. The line width is 2 and the color is red.
In the blue square on the right side we may see this chart more closely
in October 2005 with start and end of the cycle. As you may see LKOH
formed on this date impotent top.
Next example of this function:

In the chart above you can see an example of a Circle line in Daily
time frames (both for a chart and for a cycle). Important top of the
“EESR” stocks was formed on September 05, 2003 at 10.648 roubles.
We plotted a 45-daily cycle (it cycle is 1/8 of the full yearly cycle) on a
daily chart. The line width is 2 and the color is blue.
As you may see - the results are rather impressing: the first cycle line
matches exactly the trend reversal day, the second is plotted one day
before the reversal date.

N.B.: if we set Circle line on Daily Time Frame and chart – on Weekly
(or more) Time Frame, than Cicrle line will not be showing.
Gann Fan

7 main parameters:
o Start price – the price which will be the base point for the lines.
o Start data – the date which will be the base point for the lines
(usually an important top/bottom). You can type it on the keyboard or
select it with the mouse in the calendar.
o Price step – price change / time change ratio, i.e. the slope of the
lines.
o Count of lines – sets the number of the lines (2*N-1) in the fan,
where “N” is the value of the parameter. For instance, if N=1 – just one
line will be plotted, if N=22 – three lines will be plotted (the slope of
the first line equals Price step, that of the second – Price step*2, that of
the third - Price step/2).
o Color .
o Width .
o Direction – sets the direction of the angle/line – up or down, or both
Up and Dn.

The function is a tool allowing to determine the main support /

resistance lines. The chart above shows an example of three Gann fans
(the settings of the third are shown in the dialog box on the left).
Square root from extremes
6 main parameters:
o Data – date on which the price formed a reversal (usually an
important top / bottom). You can type the date on the keyboard or
select it with the mouse.
o Square of Low/Hi – the value of the bar – High or Low from which
the square root is extracted.
o Scaling – transformation ratio setting the necessary number of digits
after the decimal point. For example, the price 10.648 with the scaling
parameter = 100 will be transformed into 1064.8, from which square
root will be extracted.
o On bars/calendar day – trading days / calendar days – check this box
to calculate the cycle based upon trading days (bars), or leave it
unchecked for calendar days.
o Color .
o Width .

The function shows time resistance levels, i.e. the moments when the
price is most likely to form a reversal.
Square of minimum (ZeroLine)
7 main parameters:
o Data – date on which the price formed a reversal (usually an
important top / bottom). You can type the date on the keyboard or
select it with the mouse.
o Start price – the price which will be the base point for the lines.
o Price step – sets the slope of the line, i.e. the speed at which it moves
to the Zero Line.
o Harmony – Sets the number of lines (2*N-1), where “N” is the value
of the parameter. For instance, if N=1 – just one line will be plotted, if
N=22 – three lines will be plotted (the slope of the first line equals
Price step, that of the second – Price step*2, that of the third - Price
step/2).
o Color .
o Width .
o Draw nul line – switches on/off plotting of diagonal lines going from
the lows to the zero line. If the parameter is switched off only vertical
lines will be drawn.

The function shows time resistance levels, i.e. the moments when the
price is most likely to form a reversal. The chart contains three lines
which have forecast with great exactitude important reversal dates.
Square of maximum (ZeroLine) – This function is used in the same
way as Square of minimum, with the only exception that it is based
upon price highs.

Square of range
9 main parameters:
o Start data – date on which the price formed a reversal (usually an
important top / bottom). This date will be the base point for the square
You can type the date on the keyboard or select it with the mouse.
o Start price – the price which will be the base point of the square.
o End data – date on which the price formed a reversal (usually an
important top / bottom). This date will be the final point of the square
You can type the date on the keyboard or select it with the mouse.
o End price – the price which will be the final point of the square.
o Price step – step at which diagonal lines cross the square (towards
the horizontal axis).
o Harmony – Sets the number of lines (2*N-1), where “N” is the value
of the parameter. For instance, if N=1 – just one line will be plotted, if
N=22 – three lines will be plotted (the slope of the first line equals
Price step, that of the second – Price step*2, that of the third - Price
step/2).
o Color .
o Width .
o Draw diagonal line – check this box if you want to plot the diagonal
line from the maximum to the minimum of the square. If the box is
unchecked only vertical lines will be plotted.
This function allows to determine price support / resistance levels
(horizontal lines within the square) as well as time resistance levels
(vertical lines). Horizontal lines divide the square into 8 parts.
The chart above shows two squares of range (monthly data).

Square of 52/90/144 - S52/S90/S144.

You can also plot squares with your own settings.
The function has 9 main parameters:
o Square – The number of the square, e.g. sqare of 52, 90, 144 etc.
o Start data – date on which the price formed a reversal (usually an
important top / bottom). This date will be the base point for the square
You can type the date on the keyboard or select it with the mouse in the
dropdown calendar.
o Start price – the price vale which will be the base point of the square.
o Direction – Sets the direction of of the lines of the square (Up – up,
Dn – down, Up & Dn – up and down).
o Price step – the step at which diagonal lines cross the square along
the horizontal axi. This stem also sets the distance between the
horizonal lines dividing the square into Square parts.
o Use 1/8 (1/4 or 1/2) – – Sets the division of the square to be used as
well asthe color of the corresponding lines.
o Use 1/3 – Check this box and select the color of the lines if you want
to divide the square into 3 parts.
o Color .
o Width .
This function allows to determine price support / resistance levels
(horizontal lines within the square) as well as time resistance levels
(vertical lines). Horizontal lines divide the square into 8 parts.
The chart above shows 2 combined Squares52 (monthly data).

Ganns Master Hexagon Chart

Levels of Hexagon Price - Price support and resistance levels
The function has 7 main parameters:
o Start number – The price level, which will be the base of the
hexagon. The default value is 1, but you can also set a number
corresponding to an important low of a security.
o Degree/data – this parameter shows at which degree (of the external
circle of the Zodiac) or date we will plot the line to the center and
search for the numbers of the hexagon below that line.
o Harmony sets the number of lines plotted based upon the
Degree/data level. 1 – just one line, 2 – one line and onother one 180
degrees away from the first, 3 – 120 away from the first etc.
o Scaling – sets the correspondence between prices and the numbers of
the circle, as the prices are fractions, the hexagon numbers are integer.
For example, to see the level of hexagon for a stock with the price
range 2-10, the optimal value of the paramber is 0,01. Increasing the
value ofthe parameter we will increase the distance between the levels.

The function allows to determine time support and resistance levels,

i.e. the moments when the price move is most likely to reverse.
On the chart above (RAO EES, daily) you can see the levels of
Square4 (the start date – March 27, 2000 – an important high) in the
4th harmony (each 90 degrees). The vertical lines show rather precisely
price tren reversals.
Fibo Tools
Fibo Lines
4 main parameters:
o Data - the first bar of the analyzed price array.
o Start from – The number of the first cycle. The default value is 0, but
it can be set to 1, or, actually, any other number.

o Width .
The function is designed to determine the moments of the highest
“strain” in the short-run market move. It is often indicated by
maximum (absolute) values of the Declination line and stochastic.

Price Degree Line

6 main parameters:
o Start price – the price level which will be the base for the lines.
o Scaling – price/degrees transformation ratio: 1 degree = 1 price unit /
scaling.
o Harmony – Sets the number of the lines within the complete
Zodiacal cycle: 1 – only one line, 2 – two lines (the given degree and
its opposition) etc.
o Width .
o Color .
o Absolut Degree / Degree in Sign – If this box is checked (by
default), the value of the lines is shown in absolute degree units (e.g.,
price=6,21; scaling=0,01; degree=6,21/0,01=621°. 621-360=261°; the
«261°» text will be shown). If the box is unchecked, the value of the
lines will be shown in the degrees of the Sign of the Zodiac. In our case
it will be «21° » - 21 degree of the Saggitarius (value in degrees and
the icon).
This function is used to determine the areas of natural price resistance,
according to the harmony of the Zodiacal cycle. Above is the monthly
chart of the Surgutneftegaz stocks (Start price = 0 and Harmony = 12,
which means that the beginning of each Sign of the Zodiac is plotted)

Planets Search
To search for any planetary interactions (phenomena) select this menu
item or click the button on the toolbar to open the «Planets Search»
dialog window:
The field on the left (Number of planets) allows to set the number of
planets to be used in the search.
If we select 2 planets, then we will actually search the aspect between
these planets.

For 3 planets, we are looking for aspects configuration among 3

planets (for example Big Trigone – Mercury – Mars – Saturn).

For 4 planets we are seeking the configuration of aspects among 4

planets (for example, the Big Cross – Venus – Jupiter – Saturn –
Mercury).
You should keep in mind that all the aspects are calculated based upon
the first planet.

In the «Method» field we select the type of planetary interactions to

search for. In the current version only one method is available: transit,
Tr.
So, we are looking for interactions among transit planets. Later, other
search methods are expected to be added to the program.

In the third field we select the main planet based upon which the
search will be carried out.
In the fourth field (Planets position) we select the geo-, helio-
coordinates of the planets or the declination position.
In the fifth field (Phenomens) we select the type of interaction. The
current version of the program maintains only one such type - «In
Aspect». So, we can look for planetary interactions through aspects.

In the version v.3. of MGA the following phenomena are available:

In Aspect – planetary interactions through aspects,
Ingress In – to search for the moments of ingression of the base planet
into a sign of the Zodiac,
In Sign - to find periods when the base planet is under a given sign,
Move Retro – to find periods of the retro-movement of the base planet,
Move Direct – to find periods of the direct movement of the base
planet.
Now, let us look at the fields regarding supplementary planets (those
in interaction with the base planet):
In the Aspect field we enter the angle (in degrees) between the planets
to search for. It should be noted that both the left and right aspectes will
be searched for (i.e. both 45 and –45 degrees).
In the «Method» field we select the type of planetary interactions to
search for. In the current version only one method is available: transit,
Tr.
In the third field we should select the planet whose aspect with the
base planet we would like to find.
In the last field we select the orbis of the interaction (we can as well
do without orbis by setting its value to 0).To search for configurations
of aspects we should act in the same way.

The “Line” block allows to adjust more flexibly the display of search
results on the chart.
In the dropdown menu of the first field we can use the following
options:
Vertical, V – On the days when the planetary interaction we seek takes
place a vertical line will be plotted on the chart from the top to the
bottom. It is especially convenient when displaying aspects without
orbis.
Horizontal, H – On the days when the selected planetary interaction
takes place a horizontal line will be drawn (above the prices if they are
at the upper half of the screen and below the prices if they are at the
lower half of the screen). This option is convenient for aspects with
orbis and large line width (8-9).
Box, B – On the days when the selected planetary interaction takes
place a rectangle (a box) is plotted around the bars of the chart. This
option is convenient for aspects with orbis and small width of the line
(1-3).
FillBox, F – The same as the Box, but with this option you can paint
the box in different colors.
Circle, C – On the days when the selected planetary interaction takes
place a circle is plotted around the bars of the chart. This option is
convenient for aspects with orbis and small width of the line (1-3).
Picture, P – If you select this item, a new field will appear which will
allow you to select an icon for indicating the given planetary
interaction on the chart. This option is good for displaying aspects
without orbis.

At the bottom of the dialog box there is the list of planetary interaction
to search for and several buttons.
The «Add» button adds the selected search parameters to the list of
interactions.
The «Delete» button removes the selected plantary interaction line
from the list.
The «Aplly» button activates the selected search parameters, and
carries out the search only for those planetary interactions which are
checked in the list. After the search hase been completed the dialog box
is not closed.
The «Ok» button activates the selected search parameters, and carries
out the search only for those planetary interactions which are checked
in the list. After the search has been completed the dialog box is closed.

Cycles module
To search for dates on which the largest number of cycles are
superposed select this menu item or click on the button of the toolbar.
The «Cycles» window will then open:

The «Cycles» window consists of four blocks and a table. In the

columns of the central table there are important dates from the price
history of the given security. In the rows of the table – the date we
would like to study (commonly future dates, but you can as well
backtest this tool).

The upper block allows to modify the columns of the central table
(add, remove etc.)
There are two ways of adding a column:
by exporting dates from the swings,
by entering them manually.

If you want to delete either a current (that selected by the mouse)

column or all the columns from the table you can use the «Del.Col.» or
«Del.All Col.» buttons.

To set the column width change the «Column’s width» field and the
«Set» button.

The toolbar on the left is used for manipulating the rows of the central
table.
New rows can be added in the following ways: select the first date –
«From Date» – in the dropdown calendar (or type it on the keyboard),
enter the final date - «To Date» - and press the «Add Rows» button.

The «Search» button at the bottom launches the search of cycles

supperposition.

The toolbar on the right allows to manipulate the harmonies and the
periods of the cycles.
The period of the complete cycle can be entered in the «Full cycle»
field. This parameter is used to calculate the difference (absolute value)
between dates, for example: the 545 days difference corresponds to 180
days (as |365-545| equals180).

The values of harmonies are listed in the hierarchical tree «Harmony

& orbs».
Clicking on each item in the list we can see the initial and the final
values of a cycle (the value at which it is shown in the central table).
For example, clicking on the 180 days cycle (click “+” at the left of
180) we will see two values: 178 and 182. It means that we set the
orbis for the influence of this cycle two days before and two days after
its value.
To modify the value of an orbis, click it once and after a short pause
click it again. After modifying the orbis click enter to save the change.

Having set and/or modified all the parameters don’t forget to press the
«Search» button to recalculate the cycles.
The central table shows only the final calculations. In its columns
there are important dates for the given security, and in the rows – dates
we want to study, the cells of the table contain the cycles. The second
column (on the left) - «Total» contains the number of cycles which are
in action on each date we would like to study.
Double-clicking on the central table will maximize it and hide all the
toolbars, which is convenient when you are looking through a large
data array. Double-clicking on the table once again will switch the table
to the initial position.

The toolbar at the bottom allows you to display the final calculations
on the chart.
Check the box «Draw result Histogramm» to display the results on the
chart. A histrogram of the selected color and line width will be plotted.
The numbers from the «Total» column less then the value set in the
«Minimum points» field will be ignored, which is a sort of filter.
You can save or view the cycles saved earlier by opening the context
menu (right-click of the mouse).
An example of using the cycles is shown below on the chart of the
Lukoil stocks – the picture hardly needs any comments (!):

Swings module
To perform a more detailed swings analysis (in comparison to that
available in the functions block) select this menu item or click the
button of the toolbar. The «Swings» window will be launched:

The window consists of two parts, the first containing the list of all the
calculated swings, the second – the list of highs/lows for the current
(selected) swing.
There are two kind of the swings:
Time swings - User wants to see some number of the consecutive
highs or lows (ex. 3D - 3 consecutive Hi/Lo on daily chart, 2M - 2
consecutive Hi/Lo on monthly chart).
Points swings - User wants to see some points (and more) for
corrections from last move (ex. 9-Points swing - price must to drop
down by 9 points from hight)
Many operations with in this window are available through a context
menu which can be activated by a right-click of the mouse:

Time swings Point's swings

To add a swing you should click at the "Add Swing" in popup menu
and window of the swing's options will be launched:

Kind of swing - check the kind of the swing and enter parameter(s)
bull's color - set color of the bull move in swing
bear's color - set color of the bull move in swing
width - width of the lines
the «Future» parameter allows you to plot the projection of the
previous swing into the future – a very useful feature, enabling you to
see the future support/resistance levels. For example, retracements in a
bullish trend must be less than, or the same as, the previous
retracement.
Legend - list of the legends.
Button "Cancel" - cancel and hide option's window
Button "Add" - add swing in the chart and in the swings table; hide
option's window

Having configured a swing push the «Add» button to add the swing to
the the listbox.
In addition to the parameters you have set, you will see the following
settings:
• «Trend» - shows the trend of the current movement: Up – bullish, Dn
– bearish.
• «Hi/Sh» - hides away, or shows, fluctuations on the chart. The
default value is «Hide». To modify its value quickly double-click on
the corresponding cell of the table.
To remove an unnecessary swing push the «Delete» button or click
"Delete swing" in popup menu which will delete the corresponding row
from the tables at the top and at the bottom of the “Swings” window.
To Edit a selected swing right-click on the corresponding row to open
the context menu:
The menu item - «Edit Swing» - openes option's window and places
the swing parameters to the window's form where you can modify
them, show the «Edit» button and disables the «Add» button.
The menu entry - «Hide/Show...» - openes submenu:
The submenu item "Hide/Show... Swing" has the same effect as the
double click of the mouse: it shows or hides fluctuation lines from the
chart.
The submenu item «Hide/Show... Legend» hides or shows text labels
against the tops/bottoms of the swings.
The submenu item «Hide/Show...Future» hides or shows the projection
of the swing into the future, based upon the past movement of the
previous swing.

If kind of the swing is Point's swing there are once more menu item in
popup menu:
"Show in sep.window"
This menu item openes separatly window for a point's swing:
User may to change options this window and print point's swing chart.
To change options push the button "Options" - option's window will be
launched:

With puldown menu Stencil - user may to change visual presentations

of the chart.
W.D. Gann used 8 square in inch, 12 square in inch chart's paper. You
may to use it or choose the "user options".
In the "Major line box" you may input count squares on inch (in
"user's options" only), color of the line, needs the programm to draw
price legend on Y-Axis at major division."Price unit per inch" sets price
scale.
In the "Medium line box" you may input how many squares on inch
programm must draw medium line (not more that Major), color of the
line, needs the programm to draw price legend on Y-Axis at medium
division.
In the "Minor line box" you may choose color of the line, needs the
programm to draw price legend on Y-Axis at minor division.

The "Maximum" field sets maximum's price in the chart, and the
"Minimum" field sets minimum's price in the chart.
Button "Apply" applyes the options and close option's window.

Clicking on a given swing you can view all its tops and bottoms in the
following way:

Date – Date of the extremums (swing)

Price – Price of the extremums (swing)

SpaceBars - Duration in trading days (in terms of bars)

SpacePrice - Duration in terms of price units

H/L - Is it a High or Low

Calendar - Duration in calendar days

Within this table you can use a context menu consisting of two entries:
1) «Edit» - select this item to activate a toolbar for editing swing highs
and lows and push the «Change» button;
2) «Delete» - this option allows to delete highs and lows in pairs. (to
do it select 2, 4, 6 etc. rows in the table using the mouse and the “Ctrl”
and “Shift” buttons). The necessity to delete swings in pairs is
explained by the fact that after a high of the swing is succeeded by a
low.

In the same window there are two additional buttons:

«Seasonality»

«Seasonality» - opens additional windows where you can analyze the

seasonality of a chosen swing, i.e. how many tops/bottoms there are in
each month. The recommended swing value for such an analysis is 3W
or 2M (depending on the security).

«Duration»

«Duration» - opens additional window allowing to analyze the average

duration of the campaign for the selected swing. This analysis shows
you the average number of days in the bullish and bearish trend, i.e.
how many extremes (highs and lows) of the swing belong to each
month.

«Master Charts» menu -> Square of 9

Starting with version v.2.4. of the MGA program you can use the
Square of 9 template. To open this module select Master Charts in the
program menu or click on the toolbar. You will then see the «Master
Time & Price Chart – Square9» window:

For your convenience, the window contains nothing but the picture of
the template.

In the picture you can see the numbers ascending spirally from the
center of the square at a certain step (by default – 1).

Around the square there is a degrees circle and a calendar circle.

The circle can be divided by special overlays. By default – it is a

square with diagonals dividing the circle into 8 parts.

Let us now look at the Square9 itself:

The Square of 9 is a combination of universal geometrical figures –
circle and square. The first square includes 9 numbers, whence the title
“Square of 9”. 9 – is the most important number, “the measure all the
things”. Adding any number to 9 and returning it to 1-digit number (the
base of the decimal system) we get the same number again, for
example: 1+9=10 1+0=1, 4+9=13 1+3 =4 etc. Multiplying a number by
9, we will get 9 again: 2*9=18 1+8=9, 4*9=36 3+6=9 etc.
Each square contains (2n+1)2 figures. At the angle of 45° in the first
cycle there is 1 figure, in the second cycle – 2 figures etc.
The circle surrounding this square is the Zodiacal circle beginning on
March 21 at 0 degrees of Aries. The circle is divided into 8 sectors: by
the vertical and horizontal lines (the so called “cardinal lines”) and two
diagonal lines (the so called “fixed lines”). According to Gann, support
and resistance levels must be situated on these lines.

All the operations with the template are available through a context
menu which can be activated by a right-click of the mouse.

«Chart Properties…» - launches a window where you can configure

the template parameters and colors.

«Open Chart…» - opens a previously saved template file.

«Print Chart…» - sends the template image to the printer. If the printer
resolution allows it, the image will be printed on 1 page, otherwise
(most frequently) – on multiple pages.

«Save Chart…» - saves all the settings of the template in a file.

Let us study in more detail the first menu item (all the others being
standard Windows operations of file printing, saving and opening).
After selecting the «Chart Properties…» entry the user will see a
window with several tabs.

The «Square» tab

Contains the settings of the numeric Square.

The «Global» group contains

Price/Time.
Price - configures a square consisting of numeric values.
In the Begin field you enter a number which will be placed into the
central cell of the square.
Time configures a square consisting of dates.

In this case the Begin field must contain a date, which will be the
placed into the central cell of the square.

The chart on the left is an example of the Square for the Lukoil stocks.
The base number is the low of December,10 2004.

The format of the dates can be configured in the Numbers frame with
the Format combobox. The examples format is «mm.dd» (12.10 will
stand for December 10, 2004).

Direction combobox.
The user has to choose between Right and Left.

Choose Left (by default) to set the zero value of the degrees circle and
that of the calendar circle to March 21 on the left of the window. In this
case the square will be filled with values clockwise.

Choose Right to set the zero value of the degrees circle and that of the
calendar circle to March 21 on the right of the window. In this case the
square will be filled wil values anticlockwise.
The direction can also be changed with with the keyboard (without
opening the settings dialog box) by pressing Ctrl + Left (to select Left)
or Ctrl + Right (to select Right).

Market
Choose between the Bullish or Bearish market.
In the «Bullish» square the increment between consecutive dates or
numbers is positive. The numbers increase “spirally” aside from the
center (to the left or to the right, depending of the Direction) and
upwards.
In the «Bearish» square the increment between consecutive dates or
numbers is negative. The numbers decrease “spirally” aside from the
center (to the left or to the right, depending of the Direction) and
downwards.

For example, you can place a historical price of a security into the
central cell and see how the price is decreasing within the square,
searching for support and resistance levels in the angular cells of the
square.

The chart on the left is an example of using the square with the Lukoil
stocks. The base number is the High of 1026 (1026,9 as of April, 08
2005). On the right bottom diagonal of the square (the so-called “fixed
cross”) we can see the numbers 882 (the Low of 882 as of May, 16
2005) and 990 (the High of 989 as of April, 25 2005).

Step
Sets the increment between consecutive numbers (dates) withing the
square.

Size
Sets the dimension of the square or the number of spirals. This value
can vary starting from 1, when only the 9 base numbers will be shown.
You can modify the value of this parameter with the keyboard (without
using the settings dialog box) pushing the keys Shift+ Gray+/- (hold
down “Shift”, and press grey “+” or the grey “-“ to increase/decrease
the Size).

Scaling
Sets the scaling of the square. 1 (by default) corresponds to 100%
zoom so that the whole image can be viewed on the screen without
using the scrollbars. Increasing this parameter will enlarge the image so
that it will be larger than the window. (to view the hidden parts you can
use Windows standard scrollbars on the right and at the bottom of the
window).
You can modify this parameter using the hotkey combination Ctrl+
Grey+/- (holding down “Ctrl” press the grey “-“ or “+” to
decrease/increase the parameter).

Background
Allows you to set the background color of the window you prefer. By
default – the color is white («clWhite»).

Language
Changes the interface languages of the module.

Appearance group contains:

Radio-buttons allowing you to set the appearance of the square.

Selecting Plates will create a square consisting of plates with the option
of setting the colors of consecutive plates. Their colors can be the same
or different.
Selecting Spiral will create a spiral-like square, resembling the view
from the top of a pyramid one sees while descending it.

The Cross tab

Besides, in the settings window there will also appear the Cross tab
where you can configure the dimensions and colors of the numbers
situated on the corresponding crosses.

The Cardinal Cross – numbers situated on the horizontal and vertical

lines (0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees);

The Fixed Cross – numbers situated on the diagonals (45, 135, 225
and 315 degrees);

Mutable cross – numbers situated between the cardingal and the fixed
cross.

The «Grids» group:

Here you can configure the color and the width of the gridlines of the
square.

The «Numbers» group:

Allows you to configure the color and the dimension of the numbers
(dates) of the square. If the Presentation (appearance) of the square is
Spiral the format of the numbers situated on the crosses will be that of
the Crests tab.

The «Overlay» tab

Contains settings for three geometrical figures which can be overlaid
on the square (square, triangle, dodecagone):
Square group

To plot a square check the «Enabled» field and select the «Color»
and the «Width» of the lines you prefer.

The «Set null point to degree» field allows to set the zero point for
the square at a certain degree of the circle. You can enter the necessary
number (from 0 to 359 degrees) into this field or press «PgUp» or
«PgDn» to increase/decrease the value of the field by 1.
Besides, you can modify this parameter using the mouse: place the
mouse pointer on the initial value of the square (it is marked on the
degrees circle by a small balloon). The mouse pointer will change its
form (usually, from an arrow to a hand with a finger stretched out, but
it depends on the general settings of your computer).
As soon as it happens you can push the left button of the mouse and,
holding it down, move the pointer along the circle. This will make the
square move in the same direction as the pointer. As soon as the initial
point (zero level) has reached the necessary position (degree) release
the button and the square will be plotted in the newly selected place.

Triangle Overlay

To plot a triangle check the «Enabled» field and select the «Color»
and the «Width» of the lines you prefer.
The «Set null point to degree» field allows to set the zero point of the
triangle at a certain degree of the circle. You can enter the necessary
number (from 0 to 359 degrees) into this field or press «Ctrl+PgUp»
or «Ctrl+PgDn» to increase/decrease the value of the field by 1.
Besides, you can modify this parameter using the mouse: place the
mouse pointer on the initial value of the triangle (it is marked on the
degrees circle by a small balloon). The mouse pointer will change its
form (usually, from an arrow to a hand with a finger stretched out, but
it depends on the general settings of your computer).
As soon as it happens you can push the left button of the mouse and,
holding it down, move the pointer along the circle. This will make the
triangle move in the same direction as the pointer. As soon as the initial
point (zero level) has reached the necessary position (degree) release
the button and the triangle will be plotted in the newly selected place.

Dodecagone Overlay

To plot a dodecagone (each 30 degrees are displayed) check the

«Enabled» field and select the «Color» and the «Width» of the lines
you prefer.
The «Set null point to degree» field allows to set the zero point for
the dodecagone at a certain degree of the circle. You can enter the
necessary number (from 0 to 359 degrees) into this field or press
«Shift+PgUp» or «Shift+PgDn» to increase/decrease the value of the
field by 1.
Besides, you can modify this parameter using the mouse: place the
mouse pointer on the initial value of the dodecagone (it is marked on
the degrees circle by a small balloon). The mouse pointer will change
its form (usually, from an arrow to a hand with a finger stretched out,
but it depends on the general settings of your computer).
As soon as it happens you can push the left button of the mouse and,
holding it down, move the pointer along the circle. This will make the
dodecagone move in the same direction as the pointer. As soon as the
initial point (zero level) has reached the necessary position (degree)
release the button and the dodecagone will be plotted in the newly
selected place.
The «Circles» tab

allows to set the properties of the external circles surrounding the

square.
The «Market» frame includes two switches: «Bull» and «Bear».
Set «Bull» to make degrees and dates of external circles increase
upwards, set «Bear» - to make them increase downwards.
Bull Bear

Bull Bear

The next tab contains:

«Angle Circle» (Degrees Circle) and «Calendar Circle» .
The «Angle Circle» allows to configure the external circle with
degrees as labels.
To overlay this circle on the square check the «Enabled» field, set the
«Color» and the «Width» of the lines you prefer.

The «Set null point to degree» field allows to set the zero point of the
degrees circle. You can enter the necessary number (from 0 to 359
degrees) into this field or press «Home» or «End» to
increase/decrease the value of the field by 1.
Besides, you can modify this parameter using the mouse: place the
mouse pointer on the initial value of the degrees circle (it is marked on
the degrees circle by a small balloon). The mouse pointer will change
its form (usually, from an arrow to a hand with a finger stretched out,
but it depends on the general settings of your computer).
As soon as it happens you can push the left button of the mouse and,
holding it down, move the pointer along the circle. A line from the
center of the circle will appear which will move in the same direction
as the mouse. As soon as the initial point (zero level) has reached the
necessary position (degree) release the button and the circle will be
plotted in the newly selected position.
The «Radius 1» field allows to modify the overal size of the circle, the
«Radius 2» - to modify the size of all the labels of the circle, the
«Radius 3» - to modify the size of the selected labels on the circle.
To change these parameters place the mouse pointer on the scrollbar
runner, press the left key of the mouse and, holding it down, move the
runner to the right or to the left. The window will be refreshed
automaticly as you move the runner.
With the «Mark» frame you can configure the «Color», «Width» and
«Font size» of the selected degree labels, as well as the number of
labels to show – the «Each» field.
The calendar circle can be configured in the same way. The only
exception is that to set the zero point from the keyboard you have to
use the «Ctrl+Home» and «Ctrl+End» combination to
increase/decrease the parameter.

The «Levels» tab

contains settings allowing you to display certain levels on the square
and the chart.
In the first frame there are three buttons:
«Degree» - marks all the numbers of the square lying below the line
crossing its center at a certain degree (from 0 to 359).
«Date» - marks all the numbers of the square lying below the line
crossing the center of the square and a certain date of the calendar
circle (independantly from the year).
«Number» - finds a selected number in the square and marks it. If the
type of the square is “Time” (Square\Global\PriceTime –> “Time”)
the name of this field will be changed to “Date” and it will contain a
dropdown calendar.
Here is an example of entering a level:
The number 57, entered into the «Number» field is displayed both in
the template window and on the chart as the $57 price level (coffee).
The drowdown menu «Convert» sets the the number/price conversion
ratio according to the following formula:
Price = Number * Conversion Ratio. The fields «Brush», «Color»
and «Size» allow you to set a specific way the numbers and
corresponding prices will be marked in the template window and on the
chart. In this example we have red font against the white background.
There is also a field for your comments where a short text can be
entered to explain the importance of this number (level).
In the current example we have: «Low Marth,27 2003 on F1» (an
important low situated on the fixed cross) – this text is displayed on the
chart (just under the price level and on the right). If the mouse pointer
in the template window is on the marked cell the same comment will
be shown in the form of a tooltip. When a Template is printed all the
comments are printed after the image.

When we enter a level for a degree or a date on the external circles,

first of all the «Harmony» field is shown, enabling you to enter not
only the level but the corresponding harmonies. Secondly, the «Color»
field appears, as the levels are plotted only one backround color. You
can also add a comment here.
In this example (gold) we have the following settings: degree – 72,
harmony – 8, color – violet, width – 2. In the template window you can
see the lines crossing the 72nd and 27th degrees (72-45=27. 360/8=45).
The end of the first line is marked with a small balloon, which means
that this is the main line, while the others are its harmonies. All the
numbers of the square situated below this level will be transformed into
price levels with a certain conversion ratio (in our case – 1) and
displayed on the chart. The second line of this level crosses 458 which
corresponds to a High of 458,2.

The procedure for entering calendar circle levels is the same.

The «Add» button adds the configured level parameters to the list.
In the list of selected levels you can right-click a line to activate a
context menu containing the «Delete» option which will remove
unnecessary levels from the template and from the chart.
