1. Find or decide on a place to do a safety audit, you can choose from the list of suggested
projects, or choose your place (Open-your choice).
2. Create a checklist that contains 10-20 questions from OSHA Self-Inspection Checklist
(Appendix –A in the course manual). Choose questions carefully, that are relevant to the
place you are going to do your safety audit on it.
3. After inspection, lack of safety features should be addressed by suggesting similar solutions
to the one you studied in this course from the course manual (do not use your imagination)
4. Write a report that consists of the following:
The cover page contains the name of the place, your name, and student number, you
can add the university name logo, etc. [one page]
The checklist used, answered (i.e. filled with your findings) [one or two pages]
Pictures from the place you inspect (not from the internet) [one page, as appropriate]
The solution to the lack of safety features you find in the report be brief and use
bullet points). [one or two pages]
Conclusion remarks (a few statements) to describe your experience in this project.
[one or two pages]
– Your report should be presented professionally, a minimum of 6 pages and 11 pages
maximum, including the cover page.
– Marking will be on the content, following instruction and presentation of the report. The
report is worth 20% of the course total mark.
– Each student should do his/her report in a group of two student’s maximum or solo report.
– Report materials will be checked for plagiarism, similar reports (not similar topic) by
students would attract zero marks.
– You must add a proof of visiting the place of inspection, photos including selfie at the end of
the report as an appendix.
– No reports will be considered for marking after the due date and time or failure to submit.
– Due date: Thursday 26 / 12 /2019 midnight.
Engineering Project Assessment
To promote teamwork, make sure all members know how to contact each other, and who is
responsible for doing each part of the work. Meet regularly in person or by telephone, but not for
long. Usually’ a 15 – 20-minute meeting is sufficient. If matters take longer to resolve, ask the
people involved to work on their arguments or justifications in their own time and arrange another
meeting in a few days to decide the issue.
Report:
Make sure you have covered the issues. Re-read instructions on what you need to write about
before you finish drafting the report. If in doubt, ask me to check the report (at least one week)
before you hand it in.
Every student (or a group) has to select one of the listed topics or create his topic related to the
course contents. The students (or the group) requested to write a comprehensive technical report
about the selected topic, as per guidelines.
