APPLIED SCIENCE
Applied science is a discipline that used to apply existing scientific knowledge based on
scientific researches and also to developing a practical application of science - such as
technology, methodology, inventions.
So basically, the main concern of applied science is about scientific knowledge and how to
practice it into the real world. This can be a scientific and practical contribution to people.
Applied science's neccessity is triggered by research question which become the problem to
be solved. It usually produces practical steps, practical decisions,
as tools to answer the existing problem. It helps stakeholders to develop the systems to be
better. Applied science related to economical aspects. A common question in applied
science is what's the short-term and long-tern impact if the existing problem is not be
solved? What is the practical solutions for the problem so the negative impacts won't be
happened in future? The question like these would be answered in applied science.
SOCIAL SCIENCE
Social science is a study of human behavior, relationship with other human in terms of
emotions, psychologic, the impact of belief to environment based on scientific research.
Social science usually uses many tools to get information, to measure, to evaluate, even
to control human behavior. Have you ever heard about "social experiment"? It is one of
many tools that can be used in social science in order to get information about people's
reaction to some conditions which are the hypothesis of the study. In my opinion, social
science research is triggered by curiosity about the current event of social life. It may be not
something wrong or a problem. But it may helps us to understand about human behavior,
how to treat people, how to live socially healthy.

Of course there are many educated persons — including myself -- who refuse to use the
term social science. We prefer the older social studies. Libraries continue to place books in

Applied science is anything in science that has a practical application in industry and our life.
We can say it is a discipline that is used to apply existing scientific knowledge to develop
more practical applications, for example, technology or inventions. In natural science, basic
science (or pure science) is used to develop information to explain phenomena in the
natural world. But nowadays, everything is interrelated to each other and both are required
for the existence of further developments.

Applied science is based upon formal proofs…social sciences are far too complex for the
application of formal proofs. Another way of thinking of this is tha while applied science is
based upon repeatable experimental proof, social sciences are dependent upon human
Applied sciences refers to science as proven or accepted theories are applied to almost
anything. Social science is a small sub set of that, limited to social constructs and the f...
You could look at it this way. Only mathematics is pure, everything else is applied to a
greater or lesser degree.
Social science is not hard science. Neither is it all based on hard science. Education, for
instance, is a social science; and as many of us know, many education ideas are politicized.
Applied science tend to be less politicized and less speculative.
pplied science is a discipline that applies existing scientific knowledge to develop more
practical applications, such as technology or inventions. At A-levels applied science contains
all the three sciences and gives you one grade in total. However, it is not the same as the
single sciences. You cover less content in it.
Social sciences are things like Sociology, psychology. They focus on individual human
interactions and social behaviour.

Social science is an umbrella name for all disciplines that deal with human produced
phenomena as opposed to natural sciences.
Which particular disciplines fall under this category might vary, but most classifications
include anthropology, sociology and psychology. Other options are economy, political
science, history and Law.
Applied science is said of the scientific endeavors that are aimed at practical uses as
opposed to pure science which is usually thought of as detached from an immediate
practical use. It can be used to include engeneering as a practical science or any other

The first difference between social science and applied social science is one of semantics -
being the words used to describe each. “Applied” social science is exactly that, it is social
science applied; or the application of social science in the real world, in order to address
real-world problems.
