Lesson Plan in Basic Drafting Technology Final

This document outlines a lesson plan for a drafting technology class in a senior high school in the Philippines. The lesson plan introduces students to common drafting tools and materials, such as a T-square, triangles, ruler, and drawing paper. It includes objectives, topics, materials, teaching activities, and assignments. The lesson teaches students to define drafting, identify drafting tools, and learn how to properly use the tools through demonstrations and a group activity where students draw structures using the tools.

Teachers Activity Students Activity

Good morning class! Good morning Sir!

Okay! Class please stand up and (All students stand for the prayer)
Let us pray first...

Does anyone know who the absences are right No Sir! Everyone is present.
now?

Now! Open get your assignment and we will be

going to check it, and after that let’s see what
you got...

Let us review our previous discussions. (students raise their hands)

Again, class what is Drafting? (and students answer all the questions)

‘’Very good, that’s a nice answer’’

Motivation
Now everyone let’s continue our lesson about
last meeting. But before that I would like to show (students will watch and listen carefully)
you a short video.
Let’s watch this!
Okay! That all.
Is there anyone have a question about the video? (students asked a question about the video)
Now what you guys been watch while ago is
related to our lesson for this day.
Activity:
A group representative picks an envelope
with a number mark on it, every group are going
to draw a suggested structure using drafting tools
that are given within five minutes, and post it on
the board.

Okay! Group 1 first.

Very good group 1. Give them 5 claps. Group 1 present their work)

Next group. Group 2

Excellent group 2. Another 5 claps for group 2. (Also. Group 2 present their work)

Okay! And the last. Group 3.

Nice work on that group 3. Also 5 claps for (And the last. Group 3 present their work)
group.

Analysis
What can you say about the pictures?
Do you think those tools are necessary to use in (students answer all the question)
drafting? Why?
How can you easily familiarize the different
drafting tools?

Abstraction
Drafting is the study of the communication of
idea through lines, symbols, codes, drawing,
sketching, chart, and maps.
Drawing is an art of sketching an idea which (student answer)
commonly done through freehand. Drawing is a freestyle way of sketching self-
“Class” what is the different between drawing thought ideas. While drafting is drawing
and drafting? precisely and accurately with the use of drawing
instruments.
You are truly right!
On the other hand, the main purpose of the
drafting is to help Architects and Engineers to
build their project through making plan and
maps. Like building Houses, roads, building, and
industrial construction.
In drafting to make it accurately there’s lot of
thing to do. You have to be skillful through the
help of guide lines and instruments (student answer)
T-square, drawing board, 45° and 30°x 60°
So! Based on our activity while ago, what are triangles, Sir!
some of the basic tools or instruments that are
used for drafting? Anyone?

(student answer)
“Very good” Another? Drawing paper, ruler, compass, French curve and
protractor. Sir!

“Excellent answer”

What your guy’s answers are all correct.

They are the most commonly use tools of
architects and engineers for drafting. Without Yes, Sir!
that tools the work may not easily have done
properly.
Am I right?

Now! Those tools have different rules and uses (He/she answer the question)
on drafting. Then who can give me a tools and its T-square- one of the basic guiding tools to
function based on the video that you watch? create horizontal line.

Great! Another one! (He/she answer the question)

Drawing Board-where the drawing paper are
put, also where the t- square put on the left side
That’s also correct! of the drawing board only.
Here are some of the common basic tools for
drafting.

And I will show some of the basic tools that

are used in drafting process and also the
functions of them.

Common Drafting Tools and Materials.

A. Tools
Pencil- the drawing pencil is one of the
draftsman’s most important tools categorized by
different grades of hardness and softness
T-Square- it is use for drawing horizontal lines
and serves as a guide for triangles when drawing
other kind of lines
Ruler- is use to do a straight line.
Triangles- these are used for drawing vertical
and oblique lines. Usually comes in 45° and 30°x
60°.
Compass- generally used for drawing arc and
circle.
Protractor- a semicircular scale divided into 180
equal part each of which called a degree.
(°), and is used for measuring and laying out arcs
of circles as well as angles that can be measured
with the 45° or the 30°x 60° triangles.
French Curve- this is used to draw irregular
curves.
Eraser- used to remove smears, pencil or ink
lines and other unwanted marks.
Drawing board-a kind of multipurpose desk.
Where the drawing paper are place including all
the tools that are used to be also T-square are put
on the edge left side of the board.
Drawing Paper- where all the drawing, plan and
procedure are put using all the help of the
drafting tools.

Application
Through demonstrations, the student will
show/demonstrate the right function/use of a
drafting tool.

Evaluation
Directions: Identify the following images of
basic common drafting tool. Write on the blanks
the correct answer, wrong spelling is wrong.
Assignment:
Draw a box with the measurement of the 3
inches’ length, width, and height using drafting
tools which is 30°x 60° triangle on a short bond
paper.
