Installation Standard For SPP

This document outlines installation standards for solar PV plants. It details pre-installation preparation work including site drawings, tools, and foundation preparation. The main installation procedures are then described, including structure and foundation work, module installation, and wiring of inverters, DC cables, and AC cables. Proper safety procedures, layouts, and quality checks are emphasized to ensure correct installation according to approved drawings and specifications. Installation Standard for Solar PV Plant

Note:
The purpose of Installation standard is to implement the correct practices for
installation of Solar Power Plant.

1. Preparation Work

Before the commencement of installation, the following are required to be

carried out.

a. Drawings showing Longitude & Latitude co-ordination, True North etc. shall be
available at site for start-up.
b. Checkout and ensure the tools & tackles required are sufficient at site location.
c. Check the structural elements as per the drawings especially the dimensional
aspects, holes, etc.
d. Foundation area where the structure to be shifted should be cleaned.

2. Installation

A) Structure and Foundation.

1) Before start installation work marking should be done for Legs, As per the
drawing

2) Check the Legs and ground clearance, Leg to Leg Distance as per
dimensions mentioned in design drawings.

3) The leg structure is gently locked with the stand with appropriate Nut/Bolts.
Care shall be taken that all Bolts are inserted in the same direction taking
care of the length. Two/Three threads on the bolt shall be left after the
complete Nut / Washer / Bolt assembly is done.

4) Alignment should be done as per dimensions given in drawing. Each nut shall
be tightened with a continuous smooth action using a calibrated torque device, for
Tightening torque refer given below standard table 1.1.

Table 1.1

5) The ration of cement, sand and aggregate should be as per the details mentioned
in design. Allow 12 hours of curing time for the cement concrete.

6) Earthing of structure should be as per the drawing details and connected to

main earth.

B) Installation of PV module, inverter, AC & DC Cable :

1) During installation of lifting the PV module for the purpose of installation on

the structure, care shall be taken that the module shall be simultaneously
held to avoid any unbalance while lifting.

2) At the time of module placement Alignment and tightening of module

mounting clamp should be done simultaneously.

3) Do not apply pressure on PV photovoltaic panels by sitting or stepping on

them, chances of cell damage will increase.

4) The earthing of the PV module shall be carried out as given in the

drawing.

5) Distance between two earthing should be maintained as per standard. If

standard distance is not possible at any site, the same will be informed to
design/service dept. for approval.

6) Crimping of MC4 connecter lugs must be done with MC4 Crimping tool.

7) Vermin proofing of Cable tray must be there at the time of installation of

cable tray.

8) Edge protection is used in cable tray at point, where chances of DC/AC

cable insulation failure chances increased due to sharp edge of cable tray.

9) Proper lugs must be used as per the connection type i.e. Bootless lugs
used for inverter, Pin type lugs used for MCB, ring type lug used for
Erthing and MCCB lugging purpose, and crimping of lugs must be
done with suitable crimping tool.

10) For installation of inverter choose location at which we can avoid constant
contact with water, direct solar irradiation, dust and ammonia gases,
flammable surface etc.
Location selected at which inverter get adequate air flow.

11) Minimum standard distance for inverter installation should maintain as

given below :

1. Horizontal distance between two inverter – 300MM.

2. Horizontal distance between inverter and any object/Wall – 300MM.
3. Ground clearance – 600MM.
4. Clearance from object above inverter – 400MM.

Note: Installation Distance standard Varies as per the inverter make.

12) After completion of installation contractor must check following point in

presence of SCPL’s Engineer.

1.) Tightening of all nut bolt and combination of washer.

2.) Vermin proofing of DC Cable route.
3.) DC cable layout as per drawing and Polarity of DC cable.
4.) DC cable dressing.
5.) DC voltage of each and every string for particular time.
6.) AC connection, phase sequence, crimping of lugs, tightening of
termination nut-bolt .
7.) Check there is addition hall during installation of structure and fill
the hall with help of damer tap or silicon sealant to prevent water
leakage at the time of Monsoon.
8.) Make assurity that checklist of installation followed.

Final installation guide line:

1) Installation carried out as per SCPL approved drawing only. Any change in
layout must be informed to design department for approval before installation.

2) Structure material must be as per approved BOM only. Any change in BOM
must be informed to design department for approval before installation.

3) All rules and regulations must be followed strictly as per site’s security
procedure and at customer location also. Any harsh behavior from any labor or
supervisor is strictly not allowed.

4) In case of any query, contractor must not communicate directly with customer.
Contractor should inform SCPL site engineer/supervisor in case of any query,
information.

If the contractor does not follow any of the standard/Guideline as mention above than
penalty or Rework will be in the scope of the contractor.
