DETAILED LESSON PLAN FOR ORAL COMMUNICATION

July 21, 2019

I- Objectives

1. EN11/12OC-Ibe-8

 Discusses the functions of communication.

2. EN11/12OC-Ibe-13

 Identifies strategies used by each speaker to convey his/her ideas


effectively.

II- Content
A. Subject matter: Functions of Communication
B. Materials: Visual aids, pictures, Manila paper, PowerPoint presentation

III. Procedure
A. Prayer

C. Review

Motivation/ Presentation
 Showing different pictures and let the students describe the pictures

Activity
 Group Work:
 Form a group of four.
 Arrange jumble letters into words and provide meaning of each word.
They will present their work according to the given task by group.
 Each group must have their short yell to be used as signal of readiness of
the group.

Group 1: “Sing my Words”


The group will present their answers trough a song presentation.

Group 2: “Words Patrol”


The group will present their answers trough news presentation

Group 3: “Talk Me”


The group will present their answers trough talk show.

` Group 4: “Rap Me”


The group will present their answers trough rap presentation.

Rubric:

* Present the rubric to the students.


*Give allotted time for the group to prepare or practice their tasks.
*Let all members of the group participate in preparing and during the task
performances.
*Remind them that in every performance the remaining group should observe silence
and be attentive to it.
*After each performance, the learners should give “clapping of appreciation” and
praise them for the job well done.

Analysis
The teacher will present the lesson, asking the following questions.

Discussion

a. What are the five (5) functions of communication?


b. What are the strategies use by the speaker to convey his/her ideas
effectively?
c. How did the speaker convey his/her ideas effectively?

Abstraction

 What is the importance of five (5) functions of communication?

Application

Group the class into 5 (five) and each group will make a short drama out from the given
functions of communication

Group 1-Control, Motivation, Information dissemination and Emotional expression-

Group 2- Motivation, Information dissemination, Emotional expression and Social interaction

Group 3- Control, Information dissemination, Emotional expression and Social interaction

Group 4- Control, Motivation-Emotional expression and Social interaction
