“How was our game? Did you enjoy it?” “We enjoyed it Ma’am!”

“What have you considered to guess the words?” “We need to ask first if the word is a name of person,
place, animal, thing, or an idea.”
“Very good! Those are naming words. What do
you call a term naming a person, place, thing, or “Ma’am, the term is called Noun.”
an idea?.”

“Very good! And there are different types of noun.

But today, we’re going to discuss the five basic
types of noun.”

FIVE BASIC TYPES OF NOUN:

 Proper Noun- is a name which refers only

to a single person, place or thing and
there is no common name for it. It always
begins with capital letters.

Examples:
Cavite is one of the most historical places
in the Philippines.
One of tourists favorite destination is
Tagaytay.
Alfonso is known for Sanghiyang Festival.

“Kindly give another example.”

“Very good!”

 Common Noun- is a name for something

which is common for many things, person,
or places.

Examples:
They drove across the country from Italy
to Philippines.
The girl walking along the street is
Daniela.
Cassie borrow a book from me.

“Kindly give another example.”

“Very good!”
 Abstract Noun- is a word for something
that cannot be seen but is there. It has no
physical existence. Generally, it refers to
ideas, qualities, and conditions.

Examples:
Cardo and Alyana’s love for each other is
unconditional.
Friendship is priceless.
Jake’s happiness completes Finn.

“Kindly give another example.”

“Very good!”

 Concrete Noun- is the exact opposite of

abstract noun. It refers to the things we
see and have physical existence.
Example:
The box found by Finn and Jake is
mysterious.
The bag on the table is mine.
My friend sent me a gift.

“Kindly give another example.”

“Very good!”

 Collective Noun- is a word for a group of

things, people, animals, etc.

Examples:
My family is going to visit me.
The team won the game.
A bouquet of flower was sold.

“Kindly give another example.”

“Very good!”

Abstraction

“Did you understand our lesson? If you really do, “Yes, ma’am!”
let’s have another activity. Since you helped Finn
and Jake know the words a while ago, they sent
you a pizza as a gift. Every slice of pizza has
surprises in it. Are you excited for the surprises?
If yes, let’s bite every slice of pizza and see what
awaits us!”

1st slice- “What’s type of noun I am?”

(flock, mountain, Marian, humor, table)
2nd slice- This type of noun is cannot be seen
and has no physical existence. What is
it?”
3rd slice: Differentiate common noun and proper
noun.
4th slice- This type of noun refers to the things we
see and has physical existence. What is
it?
5th slice- Give a collective noun and use it in a
sentence.
“Very good class! You really understand our
lesson! I think you’re all ready for another group
activity.”

Application

“Our friend Finn and Jake wants to challenge you

through a game. The game is entitled “The
Longest List” For this game, they sent us two
boxes. The first box contains the five basic types
of noun while the other box contains letters A-Z.
In this game, each group must have their first
representative in front to do what is being asked.
I will pick a card in each box as set. For example,
on the first box, I picked proper noun and picked
letter A on the other box, the representative of
each group will think of proper noun that starts
with letter A and write it on their cartolina posted
in front. We will have five sets. You will be given
a minute in each set of tasks. The group having
the longest list in each set will earn the point.”

“Are you ready? Let’s start!”

“Very good class! Congratulations for a job well

done!”

C. Evaluation

“For our last activity, kindly pass on the answer

sheets and answer the following questions.
