I. OBJECTIVES:
A. CONTENT STANDARDS : The learners demonstrate understanding of key concepts of quadratic equation.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: The learner is able to investigate thoroughly mathematical relationships in
various situations, formulate real-life problems involving quadratic equations, and solve them using a variety of
strategies.
IV. PROCEDURES:
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY
Preliminary Activities
1. Greetings Good Morning Class!
2. Opening Prayer Everybody stand, let us pray.
3. Checking of Attendance May I know who is/are absent today?
A. Reviewing previous lesson or The teacher will post/ show flash cards on the
presenting the new lesson board with the following polynomial
expressions:
1) x2 + 8x
2) x2 – 2x
3) x2 – 6x
4) x2 + 5x
1) x2 + 8x + 16
2) x2 - 2x + 1
3) x2 - 6x + 9
25
4) x2 + 5x +
4
B. Establishing a purpose for the Present the following quadratic equations:
lesson. 1) x2 – 2x – 3 = 0
2) x2 – x – 9 = 0
3) 2x2 – 10x + 12 = 0
Can you solve it by factoring? By extracting
the square root?
How else can you solve it?
C. Presenting examples/instances The teacher will introduce the 3rd method in
of the lesson solving quadratic equations. That is by
completing the square. Tell the students that
not all quadratic equations can be solved by
factoring or extracting square roots. With this,
completing the square works whether or not
the equation can be factored.
1) x2 –9x + 20 = 0
2) t2 –5x- 24 = 0
3) 3n2 –6n- 3= 0
