Operations Department:
The Operations department manages all the main departments like Core, NSS, Systems, Access,
Video, Complains.

1. Video:
In video department we are using four KU-Band dishes and eight C-Band dishes, the receiving
frequency of C-Band and KU-Band is 3.7GHz - 4.2GHz and 10.6GHZ - 12.7GHz respectively. For
tuning and converting the input (RF) signal into IP we use EMR, there are some channels that are paid
and their receiver output is in HDMI. We use HD Encoder to convert this signal into IP, the all these
outputs are combined in a video switch, the output of video switch is connected with ROTON that is
handling the basic Analog channels and IPQAM that is handling all Digital channels. Our Frequency
Band is 54 - 858MHz, the range of Analog channels is 119 – 663 MHz and the range of Digital channels
is 54 – 94 MHz and 663 – 858 MHz

2. Systems:

 DNS Servers:
DNS stands for Domain Name Service which basically provides the IP address to the domain names so
the internet browser can understand them and load internet resources, in simple words we can say that
the DNS is the phonebook of internet.

 DHCP Servers:
DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. The purpose of this servers is to provide an IP
address and other related configuration information such as the subnet mask and default gateway to the
host.

 FTP Servers:
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. This protocol provides access to the database via internet. These
files are not encrypted in FTP so they are not used for providing sensitive file, for this purpose there is
another type that is called SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) which adds a layer of encryption.

 RADIUS Servers:
Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) is a client/server protocol and software that
enables remote access servers to communicate with a central server to authenticate dial-in users and
authorize their access to the requested system or service.
RADIUS is a AAA protocol that manages network access. AAA stands for authentication, authorization
and accounting.

house structures on that software and then we plan about the cable routes, joints and their types (7-22
or 4-9), the locations where the DCs and NAPs will be installed and how many homes we are going to
feed with one DC according to the distance.

UPS, Joy Box and Digital Box. The installation engineer manages two installation team and they
manage their team to do the survey and installation according to the documented SOPs.

Areas of Improvement:
 Installation and development teams should have a Cordless Drill to save time and effort.
 Office should have a canteen.
 There should be a small office/franchise in main areas for walking customers.
 There should be an annual trip for employs.
 The video team doesn’t have any internet access on rooftop.
 In our Parental Locking package user should have access to its user portal in order to unlock its
package during its lock period.
