Subject System Error Information (F error code: Fxxx)

We are distributing a list of Error code (Fxxx) with the summary of causes that is not available in the service
manual. Please use it as a reference when determining the cause.

You may use it as a guide for the corrective measure if the error code fails to
reset by cycling the power switch or the error triggers frequently.

** The error cord (Fxxx) may also be displayed due to hardware factor. Please check the following first.

• Check the surrounding area of DDR2 memory ---

If the error is detected again after checking the contact between YS1/YS2 and memory, please
replace the memory.

If the problem recurs after replacing the main board, please check the HDD. When formatting or replacing
the HDD, please take extra care with handling the stored data.

• Check the HDD --- If the error recurs after formatting the HDD, please replace the HDD.

U021 Memory initializing

The backup RAM is initialized according to the destination specification as specified in U252 (Setting
the destination).
Æ After execution: Set the setting values again that were changed after machine setup.

U024 HDD formatting (FULL)

The following settings are initialized after initializing the HDD.
System menu (user login administration, job accounting, address book, one-touch keys,
document box, etc.), shortcut keys and panel programs
When fully formatted, the following pre-installed software will be deleted.
Option languages, PDF 1.7 resource, EMU, weekly timer, color table, software installed
in the field
Æ Before execution: Read the backup data using U917. Write down the software deleted
during the execution of U024.
After execution: After running U024, reinstall the software deleted during the execution.
Import the backup data using U917. After the memory initialization, set the
setting values that were changed after machine setup.

U671 Clearing the FAX backup data (FAX DIMM CLEAR)

Æ Before execution: Output the received data if stored. Or it will be cleared.

*It may be from the hardware factor while the error (Fxxx) is indicated. Please initially check the following.

Check the HDD if the error repeats after replacing the main board.
Take care, however, of handling the data when formatting or replacing the HDD.
